He mentions excitement of D1 sports, so maybe yes? At least he's coming from a place where they play D1 level, albeit Ivy-style.

Seeing as how UMass was put on probation and had its Final Four appearance vacated because of cheating by Calipari, that might not be a positive. But UMass did win the 1998 FCS championship, so there's that.

Reminds me of a funny story. So my Massachusetts grandchildren's "other" grandfather is a high powered CEO in Boston. Tom Brady's sister works for him. A couple years ago she offered Grandfather a pass to Kraft's owner's box for a game. Now Grandpa, he's a big Patriot fan and was excited for the opportunity to see the game and hang with Kraft. But at the last minute, Grandpa needed to fly to his Moscow office, so he gave the owner box pass to a valued male employee. When Grandpa return to Boston the next week, he asked the employee how he enjoyed the game. Employee was very excited and said he had a great time, but didn't really watch the game because he didn't KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL. He said that the whole game he was sitting beside and talking to a beautiful young lady but didn't know who she was. It turn out her name was Giselle, Brady's wife.
Grandpa couldn't speak for a few days after that. True story!!
