NDSU Blog

Just ask how overconfidence and looking beyond us turned out for ISU. Bison didn't look that great today against an inept, 1-dimensional UNI team that could barely move the ball on O. Without punter and a kickoff TD return, NDSU might not have even won. Will be hard fought game under the lights next Friday, and definitely believe that our Spiders will come in with a great game plan.

I wonder how many of their fans have bought flights and hotels for the Dallas area the 2nd weekend in January? Quite.a few, I would imagine, probably before the playoffs started!

I seem to remember a group of fans from the mountains of NC that were pretty confident too...

Believe some of them had bought their tickets...

We know what happened next...Spiders will compete...keep dreaming

Go Spiders!

if my team had done what their team has done the past number of years, would have booked my rooms in dallas last spring or summer. come on guys, their fans can do whatever they want and still look good, their team is amazing and has done incredible things. the game still has to be played, no free passes and we have a shot, will have to play extremely well to win there though.

NDSU fan here. It's gotten to the point where many NDSU fans book hotels immediately after the Championship game the prior year.

As for game tickets, many are purchased as soon as the NCAA puts them on sale in August. Also, the NCAA put three-year ticket packages up for sale three years ago (this is the final year of those packs). Bison fans bought many of those.

Been to Fargo. If you lived in North Dakota, you look for any excuse to get out. OSC

for THE ULLA, for those folks living out west, they would say the same if they had to live in the east. have lived in numerous places and they were all great, depends on one's outlook, attitude and am extremely happy that everyone is not the same or we would all drive the same color car, dress alike and root for one team. not in the cards my friend, why put down where others live, not very nice.

I've actually heard that Fargo is a great town. Wish I were able to go see for myself this week.

I lived in ND for nine years after graduating from UR. Yes it gets cold in the winter but Fargo is a very nice city and would be just fine to live in.

I visited that area and Northern Minnesota a few years back and found the people to be great- Drove by the dome- it was impressive!

Excited to see your team this weekend. If anyone makes it out, drop by the trailer in the extreme south west corner of the lot for a shot and some food. Safe travels and good luck!

We not only did that favor for App St, we cut off a repeat for the famed Indiana basketball program

that's right, and they were confident of number four -- point is we have stopped other teams from reaching lofty goals

I must say that its been hilarious while posting seeking upsmanship with the Bison bravado group on the AGS board tonight.Their opinions of themselves burst even the biggest egos.My index finger is tired out.Someone take the baton, please. They are so very sensitive about protecting their self imposed greatness. They are easy pickings and not the brightest tools in the shed.

Sample post from ndsu messageboard:
"I don't know....I watched that game last night and by the end,I was confident we had nothing to fear from either team. Richmond happened to win, but they had holes all over the place. If we show up and play even 50% Bison football I have a hard time seeing this game be a tough win....". OSC

I am not sure hilarious is the term I would use.
Both fan-bases are looking like idiots on AGS in that thread.
Congratulations on being "that guy".

I would have never guessed that looking at their transfer numbers and their 85% acceptance rate.

While some may compare NDSU to VCU, we should still act with class towards the hosts of our team. We should afford NDSU the same respect we have given VCU and their fans, like we have since VCU reached the final four. I am reminded most of the degree of respect we have shown towards Ramboy. JMHO. ;)

None of Bison talk anywhere near cockiness and trash of UNI in 2008. It was worse I had read,
ever. Interesting after we won, no one came back on which proved how much class they had.
I feel NDSU has every right to be confident, we do also cause we have experienced the "backs
against the wall" and the tough seeding draw. In addition we are peaking more with each game.
I feel we will be their toughest test and it could come down to who has the ball last.

+1

so far, bison fans on here have been way, i mean WAY, above those uni whackos. not bragging when you can do it and the bison do it. fans are not the players and you don't win like they do by overlooking an opponent. just hope we play well and let the chips fall where they may.

There fans may be dismissive, ah message board bravado, but I doubt there coaching staff and team are taking us lightly. This is the Final Four of the playoffs, any team that is remaining is obviously very good. Quite confident, nothing written on here will have an impact on the game.

Most of their fans seem fine to me on AGS and their boards. Look, they have dominated everyone for 4 years in a row and have heard team after team talk about how they're going to be the ones to beat them, but basically no one has done it yet. I can understand why they are supremely confident even in what for them is a "down" year, as crazy as that is to say.

At the same time, I think we have plenty of reason to be confident, too. We have already beaten two top-5 teams in the nation on their home turf this year in HUGE games. I imagine no other FCS team can make the same claim – and we did so handily both times. Can we do it a third time? Who knows, but it's surely possible.

The last time I ran my mouth on a board we got beat by Montana, lesson learned.
I dont talk smack after that.
Any team can win on Saturday.

I'm sure our kids are very excited just to have an opportunity to play the four time defending national champion, with a 15 playoff game winning streak a home, in their all but invincible dome stadium. It will be an honor for the Spiders to even be on the same field of play with the Bisons. I just hope our Richmond kids aren't so star struck that they forget that they have a game to play. It would be really nice if the Bisons can hang around after the game and signed a few autographs for our kids.

Our spider football team will not be star struck by this week's game and as for it being an honor, they have earned being there by their hard work and dedication! Coach Rocco will have us prepared and ready to play. The rest will be settled on the field.
