just a couple of things noticed over the past couple of weeks
south carolina when they could not host lsu due to the flooding indicated that they expected to "gross" $3.8 million for that game. recall about 15 years ago that nebraska "netted" over $1 million per home game. not sure but assume that the figures include ticket sales, parking, concessions but not tv revenue, giving, etc., could be wrong. heck the sec, acc, etc., pays out $15 to $20 mill per team per year plus the really successful programs require a certain level of giving just to be able to purchase season tickets, the better the seat, the higher the amount the fan must give.
espn, the 500lb gorilla of sports is laying off hundreds of employees over the next two years, must have started because the game day crew thanked and said good bye on air to people who had helped and made their show possible. same article said that espn was disney's biggest money maker, maybe that was before they purchased "star wars" from lucas, that property is an insane ATM. also added that espn is paying the nba about $500 billion due in 2016 which precipitated the cuts in personnel. have always though espn, actually all the sports programs had way too many people on a set, just huge overkill.
bottom line, GEEZ there is a lot of money out there in the sports world
