Merry Christmas to our basketball team. You guys had a terrific season last year by tying the regular season win record. You were especially good at the end of the season heading into the A10 tournament and were predicted by many to make a nice run in the NCAA tournament. It was fun participating in many home sell out games where the Robin Center was electrified in cheering you on. To the 3 seniors on last year’s team, there are thousands of fans that greatly appreciate your loyalty to the coach and the University of Richmond. You are all great players and would have received a large volume of offers as well as job offers from Europe.
This years the team had the highest AP ranking in over 60 years and your record of 6-2 is one of the best starts in school history. I believe this is one of, if not the most talented team U of R has ever had and I am confident you will have a terrific A10 conference season. I point all of this out, because I know some of you are down due to your recent loss and if you read this board, the many very harsh comments by some of the anonymous posters. They have complained about the team, most of the individual players, the couch. the administration, the board of trustees and other positive posters on the board. These negative people are a small group that does not represent the fan base. The fans who packed the Robin Center recognizes all the sacrifices you guys have made, along with your families. They enjoy watching the games and will be talking about many of you for decades after you graduate. I hope you and your families have a healthy and happy holidays.
