Malik William - 2017 Offer

Malik looks to be a great defensive player and passer with a mice outside. He could really fit in as a Spider. OSC

We have a real need (and no doubt a couple of roster spots) for strong rim-protectors. I like that I saw 3 blocks in a 3-second period, and on the same play, and some nice outlet passes, and a pretty respectable "handle." A visit would be very good news, and a commitment would be even better...;

surprised he's a 4 star. very skilled, but he barely leaves the floor. I don't see any explosiveness or quickness. maybe that'll come.

He's another guy who needs to learn the name or our school...he'll get there.

Is anyone correcting these guys when they mis-state UR's name in the recruiting meeting. "Actually son, it's 'University of Richmond', not 'RU'".

Bam, problem fixed.

Sorta like correcting a VCU recruit by telling him it is really VDU. OSC

it's bizarre, right? I mean, if I'm a recruit there's no way I wouldn't know a lot about a school offering me. certainly the name at a minimum. yet this happens so often. incomprehensible.

How much do they really know at this stage? They haven't been to campus, they have dozens of college coaches coming through to watch and talk to them. I'd imagine most of the mentions are just "Richmond"...so unless they're really reading the stuff they're given, they may not know. They're collecting offers at this stage, not necessarily digging into the decision process yet.

an offer typically comes in written form. on stationary and everything. with our name spelled out.

Many of them won't even notice. They see "Richmond" and "offer", and they're off to go tweet about it.

A a high school junior several states away doesn't know the correct name of our university, I'll give him a pass. If he can put the ball in the hoop and wants to play for Richmond University sign him up.

guess I expect too much. still can't believe Wesson chose the University of Ohio State. (I seriously saw that posted somewhere!)
