Just from looking at stats they are another run heavy opponent. They throw for less than 140 yards per game so hopefully we can mirror what we did last Saturday (Get the lead early, stop their run, and make them pass). They do look to have a salty defense so Winston October and the offense will need to be sharp and ready to roll.

I agree 100%, we saw the stats the same.

Given that you appear to be an astute analyst of the sport, do you have any additional thoughts about the upcoming game?

Lehigh first-year quarterback Hayden Johnson claimed Patriot League Football Rookie of the Week for the second time after throwing one touchdown pass and rushing for another in the Mountain Hawks’ 38-14 win over Lafayette to clinch a share of the Patriot League title and an automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs.

Mountain Hawks’ junior placekicker Nick Garrido was named Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week after converting all five of his PAT attempts and connecting a 31-yard field goal in a 38-14 victory over the Leopards.

11/11

Lehigh first-year placekicker Connor Poole was named Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week after averaging 46.5 yards per punt, pinning two punts inside the Holy Cross 20-yard line, including a season-long 58-yarder in the Mountain Hawks’ 10-7 win.

From the film, their QB can throw a dart. Still first year so believing our D line pressure can cause him some angst and our DBs will clean up any errant passes. Respect the Patriot League Champs, but play our game, like our chances....a lot.

Are Lehigh Yoder and Tribe Yoder brothers? Sorry, too lazy to look it up, but someone here already knows and will save me the effort. Thanks ahead of time.

Go Spiders!

#0 Jaden Green=Malachi Imoh W&M(bigger than Green)

#7 Matt Machalik=Direct snap Wildcat-short yardage

#6 Luke Yoder = Branson Yoder W&M(more of a slasher and bigger)

#1 Hayden Johnson =Darius Wilson W&M(more of a running threat)

For Lehigh,All Freshmen except for Yoder who is a sophomore.

Lehigh at #9 Richmond

Richmond is rolling into the playoffs, winning 10 straight after an 0-2 start and a questionable FCS loss to Wofford. The Spiders had a strong argument for a first-round bye. Despite not owning any currently-ranked wins, Richmond gave Delaware its first loss of the season (28-9) in mid-October, and it beat playoff-hopeful William & Mary 27-0 last week.

Lehigh earned the Patriot League auto-bid, finishing 8-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play, winning five consecutive games entering postseason play. Mike DeNucci continues to be a standout on the defense and looks to be a three-time All-Conference player. He has 80 tackles, 10 TFLs, and 5.5 sacks this season. Offensively, Lehigh likes to get things rolling on the ground. The Mountain Hawks are enjoying the two-headed youngster monster of Luke Yoder (sophomore, 888 yards, 10 TDs) and Jaden Green (freshman, 693 yards, 9 TDs).

It’ll be tough sledding against this Richmond defense, though. The Spiders allow just 127.4 rushing yards per game, and they rank No. 21 in FCS rush defense on PFF. Jeremiah Grant is as good as it gets on the d-line in the FCS, totaling 45 tackles, 16.5 TFLs, 12.5 sacks, and six quarterback hurries.

On offense, the Spiders aren’t lighting up the scoreboard, scoring an OK 28.1 points per game. But the balance and talent are there. Zach Palmer-Smith has rushed for 1,275 yards and 13 touchdowns. Camden Coleman has 1,832 yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Nick DeGennaro is one of the top FCS wide receivers beyond his number (40 catches, 576 yards, 4 TDs), but he has missed the last couple of games.

Richmond could be a dangerous squad in the bracket, and it starts with a convincing first-round win.

Prediction: Richmond 31-14

If anyone is from AGS I'm Go Lehigh TU Owl from AGS. So I come in peace..

For what it is worth Herder picked Holy Cross AND Lafayette to beat Lehigh in recent weeks. Lehigh has shown a gear this season no one else in the PL had. I believe the Mountain Hawks out gained every FCS opponent except Holy Cross in Worcester. Turnovers were their downfall in their two FCS loses (at Yale and Bucknell). They statistically/physically dominated the Bison but weren't buttoned up. Lehigh held halftime leads of 42-0 vs Wagner, 21-7 vs Princeton, 31-3 vs Fordham, 24-0 vs Georgetown, 17-3 vs Colgate and 28-7 vs Lafayette. That's a strong reflection of a well-prepared team consistently instilling their will/dominance. If you want to question the schedule, that's what you like to see in terms of talent/potential. Cahill and the staff have done a great job recruiting so the talent level is nearly back to the level it was from 1998-2016; however they are young. Their line play is also legit for this level.

I know fans always have bias but I legitimately believe Lehigh is being undervalued this year. I know the Mountain Hawks went through a rough stretch following the Coen tragedy/hiring of Tom Gilmore, but this is a program that when good, is nationally good. If this was 2015 and Lehigh was 8-3 they would be Top 20 right now.- Drake and Duquesne have been ranked for example. But the psychological dynamics changed so they're a complete afterthought. Their OC is Dan Hunt who won 3 playoff games (JMU x2 and UNH) while the head coach of Colgate. Their DC is a former D3 head coach. That's a unique staff at this level and helps to explain the preparation/execution.

PL vs CAA this year. Not a lot of wins but the PL hung in.

Colgate (2-10)
Lost to Maine 17-14 and #11 Villanova 28-3

Fordham (2-10)
lost to Stony Brook 27-21 and Monmouth 63-21

Lafayette (6-6)
beat Monmouth 40-35

Holy Cross (6-6)
Lost to #10 Rhode Island 20-17 and to #16 New Hampshire 21-20

If Lehigh protects the ball and executes through their air in critical situations I expect a 60 minute game. Although, maybe this is the week where the "expert" is right.....

Welcome aboard. Lehigh and the Patriot League are class organizations. We are looking forward to a good old fashioned football game. By the way, if you want to question our schedule, just look at the Southern half of the CAA. In it, we gleefully dispatched our arch rival, William and Mary, last week 27-0.

Hey Go Lehigh

Welcome aboard

I doubt the Spider team is looking past Lehigh and I know at least this fan is not. The team coming to Richmond seems solid.
Spiders would probably be off and have a week's rest this weekend if not having dropped the Wofford game to open their FCS schedule at home, so I feel confident they will be as ready as they can be and not looking past Lehigh.

I did pick the Spiders in the AGS playoff game this week and also to cover due to the defense shutting down W&M run game last week, but see they face another Yoder that is pretty good in his own right, so they will need a repeat performance I would guess.

Interesting that one of these two team's will end their season Saturday, and they open against each other next year, if the Lehigh schedule I saw is correct.

If going to game, be safe and if have the time walk around the campus. Spider coaches say if they can ever get Mom on campus during a visit, they got that recruit pretty much signed.

I don't think we are overlooking Lehigh. Should be fun. I see a lot of similarities between you and the Tribe.

Richmond’s 36 sacks are tied for the third-most in the FCS. Special teams are difference makers: the CAA co-champ is tied for fifth nationally with 19 field goals (Brandon Peskin and Sean O’Haire) and ranks third in net punting (42.3, Aaron Trusler).

Up Next – The winner will play at No. 8 seed Idaho (9-3) in the second round on Dec. 7.
