As of this morning, Dave Legg is no longer a part of the UR football coaching staff. Not sure if he was let go or decided it was time to move on.

Legg is leaving in his own- apparently has something else lined up that has not been announced so still under wraps. He has been here for the most successful years of UR football- I wish him luck.

Legg has been a bit of a whipping boy on this board at times but he has been a loyal employee of UR and has done a good job with our team for a long time. He's been there through some very "high highs" and he has held things together during some low times.

I wish him well.

He''s going to a place where he's comfortable with the coaching staff. He's a good guy. I'm not mad that he is going to UD. Good Luck to him!

Coach Huesman is "all in" now. No holdovers from the old staff. I really hope he is holding some good cards.

Unfortunately, Huesman is the one holdover many of didn't want to see next season. Took over a very good program and made it much worse. Will always be there cheering on our players, but have low expectations. Just winning some home games would be a good start.

You are advocating we should have hired a Rocco clone who would have torched the program once he served his time at UR (2, 3 or 4 years - pick ‘em) and decided he was being screwed vs giving Russ (or someone like him - new scheme and philosophy) time to build his team?

As to me, while I accept Russ may pan out, I prefer to give him more than 2 years; he came here knowing who we are and accepted the limitations while citing a national championship as a goal. As a corollary, I don’t think Rocco was listening nor read up on UR when he was considering UR; Delaware is a better fit for him.

Very happy that Russ has cleared out the coaches.2 more to add.I think he’s got coaches and recruiters now and mostly kids that want to play here.Clearing out the DR roster will help.

This recent recruiting class is the best I’ve seen in many years. We need more bodies and I’m sure AD Hardt will be a support unlike his Predecessor.

Where is that QB transfer?

@32counter, If you had to guess as of today who will be starting at qb in week 1? Someone currently on the roster or a transfer?

Me thinks Mancuso gets nod now.We have been/are looking at QB transfers but nothing has hit.
There are still some out there including a Cal QB.

3 QBs available as Graduate Transfers:

If Legg had anything to do with our horrible special teams the past few years, then this is no loss.

Nonsense.

There are some real morale issues in this program, unfortunately beginning at the top. We've lost a bunch of guys who simply don't respect the head coach. That's a big problem moving forward. This is a crucial year for him to show he has changed.

How do you know this. There hasn’t been anything said publicly anywhere.
When I read it or hear it anywhere but on this board, then I will believe it.

If you're close to the program, you know it to be true. It's unfortunate. I was a big proponent of hiring Huesman but I believe we may need to move on after this year unless there's a big turnaround.

8, you're right. Heard it directly from a player after Huesman's 1st year, and can't imagine it got better after the losing season. Players felt they'd been transported back to high school with what they were doing and how they were treated. I do hope with the new coaches that we see real player development and play creativity. So will see what this season delivers, but if we aren't winning and at least in the playoff conversation, think we'd have to cut the cord and find the right HC for our program.

I hear from a variety of sources, but no players. I keep hearing “lack of excitement” around the program.

I also hear that Huesman makes kids go to class and supports the professors much more than Rocco did. Heard numerous people describe him as old school and very technical.

Look - as an alumni all these things sound like what you want in a coach. I’d imagine parents would feel similarly. Now, if you’re an 18 year old kid that lives in the moment, it’s not exciting.

We start winning and people think he’s the best coach we’ve had. If he, and his staff, can’t generate the excitement to get the most out of the team, than we may have to move on.

Then again, we have Mooney riding out MBB and I literally don’t hear anything positive about him.

It’s been difficult to see what kind of “identity” Russ wants to put on the field on both sides of the ball. We heard that he liked dual threat qb, spread offenses like what he had at Chattanooga but we have yet to see a team that is completely dialed in on offense or defense. I’m sure some of that was a result of the coaching change and a lot of the veteran players being Rocco guys. I hope I’m wrong but I’m pretty concerned about our ability to get back to being a playoff team next year...it doesn’t sound like the coaches have an answer at QB...which is scary.
