Lack of Administration Support

I keep hearing that the President and other members of the administration don’t give a damn about our athletic program, but we keep putting money into facilities, seem to be recruiting some really significant athletes for our teams. The hiring of Rousell seems like a definite step up. In fact the support for the ladies sports has never been greater.
Why do people think there is no support for our sports programs? Just because of Mooney?

Unless I've missed it, in the university president's communications (e-mails) I have yet to see any mention of UR athletics.

Because there’s seemingly been no accountability for the two flagship programs the past several years. We haven’t operated the way schools that care about winning would. Maybe we really do care and there are other reasons why we’ve just languished. The bottom line for some people is that we seem to boast an awful lot about how much money we are spending on coaches and facilities but say very little about the fact that we have hugely underachieved in football and basketball for three years.

I agree that very recently it seems we are getting things lined up correctly, but the results aren’t there. Maybe they will be soon. Let’s hope.

Spending money on pretty buildings has never been an issue for the University.
The connection between doing that and demonstrating a commitment to winning championships isn't as straight-line as our PR folks make it out to be.
