34 - 14, either ECU needs to find a new coach asap or we could be facing a difficult task.

Ruffin has got to be laughing somewhere tonight.

If we don't take care of September then November doesn't really matter. Teams change a lot over 2 months

After what ECU did to Ruffin McNeil, and then hired only a position coach, I couldn't care less what happens to their football program or to their athletic director who fired McNeil.

As much as I dislike JMU, I have to admit they are powerful champions of FCS football. I just hopr the recent pattern of the visiting team winning will hold true on Nov. 11th!

more issues of new staff, scheme than I anticipated -- more improvements generally made from week one to week two. If we are truly a top 10 team we cannot afford a loss next week. Let's get ready and win it.

I think we will see a lot of improvement from week 1 and take care of business against Gate. We did some things well, just too many mistakes. Those can be cleaned up.

Hope will not win this game
Good play and coaching will win this game
We were one play from spoiling their win at our place last year They are a good program but so are we
You misunderstood me. I said I hope or anticapate the recent trend of the team wearing the away jerseys einning thr game.
We'd better be firing on all cylinders when we play the Dillweeds! Otherwise it could quickly get real ugly for us!
Looks like JMU has a great HC. If they are as successful this year as last, perhaps a FBS school will come calling. Hopefully he does not follow the lead of that coach on The Reservation and stay 30 plus years!

It's not going to be a popular opinion on this board but I think JMU is the best team in FCS right now. They always have been talented but they finally have a really good coach. Frankly, they have been held back by coaching in the past. I had a bad feeling when they hired Houston last year. A no-nonsense guy who won at the Citadel. Doesn't mean we are doomed, etc but they are the clear favorites in the CAA and probably all of FCS right now.

Not so unpopular, Captain. Some of us don't care at all about Madison College which was an agricultural girls school back in the day. But just how much of your opinion is based on Madison beating East Carolina, one of the worst programs in FBS?

I would have had the same opinion if Madison had suffered a close loss to a better FBS team like Unc or Nc State. Still impressive to go on the road and literally run over a FBS team...even if it was a bad team like ECU. Schor is a really good qb who can beat you with his arm or legs. They will only get better unfortunately in their second year under Houston and his system. Doesn't mean that they aren't unbeatable but they are damn good and should be considered national favorites along with NDSU.

They are. They're ranked one or two in most polls. Not new news.

Captain, right on the money, have always had the best personnel but have never had a really good coach but now they do.

There will be vacancies at FBS schools next year, and Mike Houston will be a candidate for many of them no doubt. Not that he will get consideration for something like the Texas A&M gig, but there are G5 and some P5 schools that will want to talk with him. He was impressive at The Citdel and continues to impress at JMU, and has experience being a head coach versus a coordinator. IMHO this is his last year in Harrisonburg.

Hopefully he will be working on an FBS deal at a big state school the night before a quarterfinal playoff game, then make some questionable decisions and a few boneheaded calls that lead to a last-minute defeat, before he officially accepts the job the following day.

As much as I hate jmu I have a ton of respect for Houston. But damn do I hope he leaves soon! I'm trying to go into coaching some day and he is someone that I look up to as far as that.

Could understand Nick Saban, but you look up to the coach at Madison College? Wow.

He runs a heck of a program -- you could choose worse mentors
Ellie Fearing coached the undefeated, un tied, un scored upon Churchland Truckers in the mid 1950's; someone truly worthy as a mentor by VT's standards.

the truckers must not have had the farmers on their schedule that year.
