Lol. I spit up my Coke hearing that. The Golden barista serving almond milk & hot yoga instructor stuff bits were funny too. U just gotta laugh sometimes. Tho I think he went back to the well too much w Golden who is a college student after all and the big white guy playing bball seems like the 1 thing not off limits these days. I think Dykes finally realized he overplayed it but we gotcha Jimmy.

I liked their story about announcing a game only to learn halfway through it wasn't being broadcast, haha. I think that was the last time the announced together or something.

I’m a little over the Pete Carrril references. Our back door cuts (what, we did two?) are Princeton offense. I don’t think
Princeton even runs the Princeton offense anymore.
I’m not dissing Carril, he was a genius with what he had to work with, as was Dick Tarrant.

At least these announcers only said there were Princeton elements, and then focused on how the offense runs through Grant at the top of the key. I’d say that was a fair assessment.

I've heard worse announcers calling Richmond games. When it was obvious that the Spiders were the better team, Dykes got off the Kentucky bandwagon pretty quickly.

Dan Shulman is one of the best sports broadcasters anywhere, baseball or college basketball. Was cool to have him do one of our games. I think he's ESPN's #1 college basketball announcer. I thought for the most part those guys did a fair job and gave us a good amount of credit. Though in general it's funny to me to see how quickly people can spin the narrative from "Kentucky is superior in talent, and UR's experience probably won't matter" to "Well I mean Kentucky is really young, and UR is so experienced..."

Saw a LOT of that on the UK boards in the past few hours!

yep Shulman is exceptional. We got the A team today. I’m just partial to Dave Flemming myself since we went to school together for a few years growing up. Flenming does college bball and football tho his main gig is mlb sf giants.

Interesting that they both were angling at doing the Richmond vs. St. Louis game. They must expect a real battle.

Enjoyed the broadcast today. I thought they were both super insightful. Loved how they said Blake wakes up a 9 every day on the aggressiveness scale and then turns it up to 10 by game time. Clear they knew our team and players.

Gave the predictable take on the billboard at the end, but even in that, I thought they then discussed how Mooney realized his defense wasn't working and made a change. It was the typical lavish praise over "insert coaches name" by the broadcasters.

These guys did their homework and it showed.

Liked hearing them talking up Burton as a potential NBA guy. Always good to hear that from outside observers. Even though he's still a role player just stepping up for us now, they clearly knew about him.
