Jake Ledbetter - 2020 Offer

One might point out that Jake is in the class of 2020; these guys generally are not recruited until next year. Teams are now recruiting for the 2019 class. One might recall that the Spiders offered Javin Delaurier a year early and he ended up with a number of offers and committed to Duke. The same is true for a number of recruits who we recognised their talent early on. So by this time next year, Jake could very well “blow up” just like Javin and countless others have.

Friday (6/15) was the 1st day coaches could reach out to the 2020 class. my boy got a couple calls/texts which was very exciting. nothing from CM though. :(

yeah, hoops coaches can't initiate any contact with players until 6/15 of their sophomore year. until then all they can do is send an invite to their prospect camp. they can't even show you around campus if you walk in the door. they don't mess around with that either. I assume it's the same for other sports.

Reaches out does NOT mean offer.

Notre Dame reached out to me in '98 about Football. May have been an indicator of their deline...

Best thing Notre Dame ever did in football was to allow the transfer of QB Buster O'Brien to us who went on to lead us along with Walker Gillette and the rest of the team to our one bowl victory in 1968 over Ohio University............

Then how do you make binding offers to seventh graders?

binding? offers aren't really binding. and those who are offering early know full well no kid is going to accept that early unless it's their absolute dream school.

schools do offer kids without ever talking to them. they can get to know them later. they talk to their AAU coach instead and they watch them. a kid can reach out to a coach to talk any time. so sometimes a coach will tell the AAU coach to let a kid know he'll be in his office and will pick up if the phone rings at 5:00 pm tonight.

i was really just asking if your son is getting contacted for bball, not what the rules are. regardless, that's exciting for him i'm sure.
