Huesman

He's really starting to make me get over losing Rocco and I was probably one of his biggest supporters on here. I won't comment about how I feel about gill because I think everyone here knows but I absolutely love Huesman so far. A few friends of mine on the team have been raving about him and his staff so far. Obviously we won't really know how we feel about him until we play some games but I have a pretty good feeling about how most of those games will go, a lot of W's.

I think it speaks volumes that he lost no returning players to transfer. I am also hearing really good things.
His attitude with the players so far is that things are not broken. He's been complimentary of the previous staff to the players and his focus is to not remake things, but just push things to the next level. Great approach and I think the current players are responding to it.

No need to fix anything. I'm my opinion we were the best team in the fcs last year when fully healthy. We should've beaten jmu but were missing to many key defensive guys. We were right there last year without all the injuries and it's time to leave no doubt this year. I have a countdown on my phone set to the exact day the championship game is in Frisco and I will be there.

Coach Russ has two of his UTC players invited to NFL Combine, Corey Levin (C) and Keionta Davis (DE). This very impressive since only 19 FCS players were invited and he coached two of them. I'd like to believe David Jones might have been invited if had not been injured. He seemed to have the total package of size, athleticism and high performance on the field.

Ran into Russ at Independence Golf Club over the weekend - introduced myself and had a nice conversation for a few minutes. Loves to play golf when not on the sidelines and we reminisced about his first stint at UR and the '08 national championship. In the offseason, he would come out with Clawson and hit balls with us on the practice range at the facility near Lakeside. He's a winner and I look forward to seeing what he can do this fall.

JoC caught a little flak for not doing this sooner.

My response to his article yesterday.-

John,

Hopefully, Queally/Hale will hire a top notch AD.A strong leader and seasoned fundraiser.Gill's departure should enhance UR athletics exposure.Danny wanted to be Gill's boss by trying to bully him on many fronts-admissions,discipline issues, raises for assistants, physical improvements.Gill lost total control of the situation basically because Rocco became uncontrollable.Danny wanted to be BMOC with all its controlling mechanisms. His last months were used to attempt to pull off a non diplomatic Scaramucci approach to pissing off most people.
Rocco's vision objectives are meant to direct HEN resources to "HIS" program. That wasn't gonna happen at UR.Rocco found a perfect AD foil - a novice AD and who was desperate to reinvigorate a lost program. There he could be BMOC.The Hens will be printing 'Danny dollars' shortly in Newark to feed his ego.Maybe they'll construct a magnificent throne for him made out of discarded chicken bones cast in blue and gold glitter and call it 'Holistically conceived through the rigors of Physicality'.

What if Rocco to UD doesn't work out? That would be awesome.

I agree. It is a perfect marriage of egos. As I have said before in different terms but with the same sentiment, Danny was good for us as an evolutionary step. He put the program back on a winning track but he, by choice, outgrew us. Presumably, he advanced by going to DE. We, however, made the better trade for our ongoing success.

Ain't happening. Perfect marriage. They will be NC contenders in a few years.
Oh no doubt they will be but I was just saying that what if for some reason it doesn't work out. As great a coach as he was for us I think sometimes he didn't always have the team prepared. You look at certain games in the last few seasons such as the 2 games after we beat jmu in 2015, we lost 2 in a row after that to inferior teams. You look at us looking overwhelmed in playoff losses which is something that should never happen. Even when he was a liberty his teams had chances to close out on a playoff bid but never could.

Rocco got us to the playoffs 3 out of 5 years, and really got dissed out of a 4th playoff appearance when we went 8-3 (I think winning the last four games that season). While not a dynasty, that's pretty good in anybody's book. I guess he got tired of fighting with his own administration. We know what that can be like at UR....

At least with the embarrassment of him leaving for a rival school, he has changed some attitudes with the powers that be. While I didn't like the whole situation and with Danny's arrogance, I can't say that I blame him. We aren't going to like playing against him.

Agree on all counts - very happy to have Russ. haven't felt we had a coach that was as good a fit since Clawson.

Rocco is who he is. He gave us what we wanted - an experienced coach to stabilize the program and bring it back to where Clawson/London had it. He did that. Ask the folks at Liberty how they feel about him - there are no surprises here. It'll be how the folks at Delaware feel about him in 5 years too.

Ready for the season to start. It's a long month waiting for that first game.

That last line... LMAO.

That part of the story has yet to be written. I don't know how much better you can get than DRs record here.

DR has moved on. Time for us to do so as well. Thanks for the 4 good years DR. The second year was only average. RH is here now and I personally am looking forward to hear him speak on Friday. I am optimistic a good season and a bright future.
