Huesman said in press conference that Milan Howard had surgery yesterday and should be ready by spring practice. Wish this young man well in his recovery.

Dykes they were going to hear about today to be able to make a decision. Hope he gets good news, as I know he wants to play. If he is not able to go Smith will have to be a work horse, and has seemed up to the task to this point in the season.

As a side bar. Listening to the JMU coach in this week's press conference he had nice comments about Mancuso's play to this point in the year.

Mr English may be called to duty at running back.

Richmond backup quarterback Beau English has run 53 times in six games and may be an option at tailback for Saturday’s game at James Madison.

The only healthy tailbacks on the UR roster are Savon Smith, a freshman from Winchester, and Devin Campbell, a junior from Yorktown. Smith has run for 224 yards on 35 carries. Campbell gained 52 yards on six attempts. Mancuso leads Richmond in rushing (588 yards on 103 carries), with a per-game average of 58.8 yards.

That situation might certainly put some plays in the playbook no one has seen this year.

You would think that a coaching staff that wants to 'run first' would recruit running backs big enough to withstand the pounding of players of upwards of 300 lbs. to adequately run their offense. No disrespect for our injured warriors, but I hope the Spider coaches rake through the upcoming Transfer Portal to find bigger ball carriers ( > 210 lbs.).

We might already have a short yardage guy on the roster, but is a D stand out listed at 228, that they might not want to or can not take a chance with. From his bio.
