Am I right that teams were left out from 2005-2006 to 2012-2013?
1 first day game in 2013-2014
2 first day games since?

(Fordham left out 2009-2013, 5 straight years?)

And...

That we were never left out or played a first day game during that time?

or is my memory going?

The last 11 seasons we have only been below .500 in the A-10 twice, so looking at those years, we played the first day in 2012 along with 7 other teams when we went 7-9 and the A-10 only had 12 teams make the tourney.

The last year the thing was in AC, we lost a play-in game (at Lasalle, I believe) and didn't even get to go to AC.

I meant we didn't miss the Tourney 2006-2013, or play on the first day since then (the day when bottom teams play each other).
We have always avoided the added difficulty that the bottom teams are given.

2012? We were 7-9 and 9th or 10th, LaSalle was 9-7 and 5th to 8th. And that was in AC.

Assuming by "first day game" you mean after the tournament went to 5 rounds...everything in your post is correct.
Richmond lost in the first round in '12 and '13, but that was when the tourney still left teams out.

Looks like:
2006 6 wins, 2 below us and a tie (2 left out)
2007 4 wins, 1 below us and a tie (2 left out) we win tie not left out
2012 7 wins, 4 below us and a tie (bottom 4 play each other)
2016 7 wins, 5 below us (bottom 4 play each other)

That’s correct. I was in Atlantic City that year for the a10 tournament and the Spiders we’re not.

Think so. First games in AC that year were Friday. Included an X and UD game with a fire in boardwalk hall.

Not aure why this is on this thread but Jake and Grant look pretty frustrated. Feel for those guys.
Said this before, but they need to stop bringing the players out for media time following a loss. Head coach should handle this exclusively.

I see no value in putting the player in a position to hang their head publicly after a loss. This video can be used as exhibit # 1.

This program is a total mess. I feel bad for Jake and Grant also. They are legit A10 players. Grant is not a good defender, but he is not put in positions where he can be successful on defense with the current defense we run. CM needs to drop the matchup zone now and work with the team exclusively on a pure zone defense (I know we went zone late in the game, but the game was decided by then). Until we are able to limit our opponents from running a layup line and keep the ball out of the paint, we will not be successful. This team is limited so if a team beats us by making 3’s, I will accept that. But we can’t let teams shoot uncontested 3s and run a layup line at the same time like we currently do. Everyone can see the matchup is a disaster except for Mooney.

Made me like Gilyard and Grant even more. Feel for them and their frustration, but their l comments make me think they get it. I hope and expect to see a fired up squad on Saturday.
We can be more "fired up" on Saturday but it does not take away our talent deficiency nor our lack of game planning by our coaches.

On defense, our game plan is either to defend the three or defend the paint. It is either or. We do one of them and just hope and pray the other team has an off night at the other.

I mean listen to their comments, our game planning is so god damn simplistic. We tried to double their big man, we tried to defend the interior and hope that we wouldn't make 3's. My lord, a competent coach doesn't game plan like this by giving a team a platter of either the inside or outside game. A good coach say, you go out and make it tough for them in all facets of the game.

If you watched Rhody in the second half, they were so relaxed, they knew we couldn't pressure them and they could get whatever they wanted. They were so relaxed at points they became nonchalant in their execution, which led to a few mini runs by us. But I can guarentee you that were was not 1 guy on that Rhody squad that ever felt they were in danger of losing that game. You could see it in the way they approached the game.

Having said that, I feel really really bad for both Grant and Gilyard. You can tell just how frustrated and downtrodden they are with all of this. I know we keep saying a mid season firing does no good, but just look and listen to them right now. They are just defeated by all of this.
