I don't take much from a scrimmage against a Div3 school.
I will get more input after the Longwood game.
Mooney tried JJ Johnson at forward with Woj & Gilyard several times during the exhibition. I didn't see were it was effective, BUT, you could tell that he is looking at that lineup due to the number of times that he went to it.yeah, wish Yates was healthy so we'd see how he'd be used. he's small for big forward in the A10 but maybe he gets first shot at that role behind until Sal and Tomas are ready. Interesting that JJ came in for Nick at the 3. if JJ's a forward, maybe Noah will play some 2. I think the 2 guard spots can be manned effectively with a rotation of Gilyard, Woj and Andre, though.
JJ is not a guard. Never saw him as a guard, was concerned when some labeled him as our starting 2 guard. He doesn't have the handle, shooting ability, foot speed, or passing to be a guard. He is an undersized forward. His natural position would be to back up Sherod. Let us hope that is where he ends up.yeah, wish Yates was healthy so we'd see how he'd be used. he's small for big forward in the A10 but maybe he gets first shot at that role behind until Sal and Tomas are ready. JJ was considered a 2G coming out of high school. So were/are Nick, Nathan, and Tomas. The two guys on our roster who were technically small forwards in high school are not considered by most here to project at those spots; BryceS has been slated by folks at SG and Sal at F/PF.JJ is not a guard. Was hoping Verbinskis was going to backup Sherod. JJ doesn’t seem to fit anywhere very well, although he can knock down the occasional three, pass ok, and is active defensively, although Bryce looks to be as good or better with a couple more inches. Hopefully both will fill a role!JJ is not a guard. Never saw him as a guard, was concerned when some labeled him as our starting 2 guard.
