Previous Statement in January by Hardt!

...."I will say that my evaluation is ongoing but really won’t occur in full until after the season is completed".....

Any word on the target date for completion? Will it be made public or will it be an internal document that never sees the light of day?

Ulla- What have you heard hanging around the RC? Any leaks?

I am betting the Mueller report gets released first!

I think you're taking "evaluation" too literally. There's not going to be a public document, and quite probably not an internal one either. He's just going to take stock of everything and have a talk with Mooney, as the AD does with every coach at the end of their seasons.

So no transparency! The message you are saying is
1) Shut up and stop the bi***ing and buy your season tickets! and
2) Enjoy the new improved version of the baby races this year!

That is quite the leap. Did Hardt release a statement saying he is satisfied with the state of the program, or that fans should be satisfied? Is it standard practice for ADs to release some sort of evaluation document every year for individual sports? Is Hardt operating outside the norm here?

Hardt made this public statement to the press. I think we all would like to know from our Athletic Director in this time of turmoil for our basketball program. I find it odd that we have heard nothing from him since he said that in January.

The silence from Hardt is very Keith Gill-like at this point. Did Hardt actually move to RVA from PA?

The baby races are so incredibly entertaining that I just can't imagine any way that they can be improved!

Oh no! Not another "K Gill" type AD! Our AD is more of a "Jabba The Hut" type!

Does Hardt have a "partner" who still lives in PA and he is just driving down on the weekdays? I wonder if he will jingle his keys in this pocket the next presser he gives.

No it isn't standard practice at all for AD's to do that. Amazing that the new AD not doing something publicly means to 9legs what he posted is a pretty big stretch. Not every conversation that takes place in the athletic department is going to become public knowledge nor should it. But the speculation is that Hardt is basically massaging Mooney's back and telling him "don't worry about a thing we're going to collude to keep you your job"

Whatever misgivings folks may have about Mooney and the state of our b-ball program, I think it’s premature to lump Hardt in as “more of the same.” As a practical matter, he’s been here for 120 days, I’d hardly expect wholesale changes nor would I expect him to telegraph whatever he intends to do.

As for transparency, you guys are probably sniffing glue on that one. Anyone expecting a “State of the Program” report is bound to be waiting around for an inordinately long time.

How about he just gives us a progress report on how the fund raising for our new bb practice facility is doing. That should be a positive that he could be transparent about.

Basically we are young and we have great recruits coming in. Dont worry about next year we should be fine. 12 wins should be no problem....

Usually these things aren’t made public. Anyway, if he didn’t fire Shafer, I highly doubt he’ll fire Mooney. That said, I do believe it would be the right call.

Yes, I very much wonder what that evaluation that Hardt completed after the season looks like? No, I am not expecting a follow up from Hardt. I fully expect him to punt until next year. I am sure PQ has instructed him as such.

Why mention it if it is nothing??? More Gill like leadership.

Wait, didn't you self-ban?

In all seriousness, I don't get the Gill comparison. If you knew Gill's indecisive style compared to Hardt's style, you'd know they aren't similar. As much as people dislike it, Hardt moved decisively to cut Demonte for athletic department policy violation. That's the kind of thing Keith would have vacillated on.

I expect Hardt's "evaluation" consisted of something like this:
1. CM, you had a bad year
2. you haven't made the tournament in 7 seasons and people are squawking about it
3. you don't have a youth excuse going into next year again (pre-transfer/dismissal evaluation point)
4. we aren't extending your contract

Just speculating.

Alright, which one of the 4-5 dissatisfied Spider fans, created this Twitter handle, with 10,000 followers? 23, was that you?
I'll never telllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!

Actually I agree that Wojo (should have elbowed him) and Alford probably should not be on list. But maybe that is part of my fake twitter handle, to trick myself? I am very confused today.

Not sure why 10,000 followers has anything to do with the list. The list was made by a few people, and we were not even on the top ten list yesterday. Then, one person tweeted Richmond? and they added us. So, not sure how much research went into this. Also, looks like we are included with Maryland, whose coach has a top ten recruiting class coming in, and UCLA, whose coach has taken them to 3 sweet 16s in 5 years. So, seems like just some guys making a random list to me.

You're right. Drop Maryland and UCLA from the list and add University of Richmond 2 more times.

Yep. Spot on, 4700.

Hey, If Mooney can some how turn this around and start winning A10 tourneys, and finding 8-10 good A10 players on a roster consistently, and figuring out basketball strategy, I'll be all for him. I have not been seeing this recently, so I have to be skeptical. I used to listen to Dick Tarrant's radio show every week and it was real talk, he didn't make excuses. He held guys accountable and too a high standard. He didn't say "I have to figure out how to find player X minutes" but instead said "when Player X figure out how to guard his man and rebound I will find him minutes" I guess that was my starting point so it is a tough barrier to meet. JB was a straight shooter too.
4700, what were some of your favorite moments from the jumping Johnny Newman days?

Cool memories, Ulla. 23, Newman was so awesome. Just think how many points he would have had if the 3 pt shot would have been around. I think some of his 30 point games would have been 40 point games. He went crazy his sophomore year, carried us in the conference tourney, and it is funny to hear Barkley say he still has nightmares of him when we beat Auburn.

I remember his senior year an incredible game at the Robins Center when he and the Spiders beat David Robinson and Navy. Incredible atmosphere and I think that was Navy's only conference loss that year. That win was probably the key in us getting the at large bid that year. Newman played great in the 1 point tourney loss to St. Joe's, and what a shame that we earlier lost John Davis to injury that season. I think all of our starters played nearly the whole game against St. Joe's as a result.

Very few UCLA fans are happy with Alford. He is definitely in trouble without a very, very good season.

Wow, good job reading the board posts and conjuring up these "memories".

Silly me. I thought 23 asked me a normal, non argumentative question, and I answered it, hoping this board could stop with the silly back and forth bickering and be fun again. I guess this latest post of yours shows that won't be happening anytime soon.

VT, you got that right! Sad; but right.

I don't think anyone asked you anything.
