Oh, BS. If not the Baptists, someone else would have started a private university in cities as big as Richmond and Waco. Just as someone else started private universities in Dallas, Houston, Nashville, Rochester, Buffalo, Detroit, Allentown, Durham, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Milwaukee and other cities as access to and the importance of higher education exploded after the Civil War.

Maybe if the Jesuits or Presbyterians would have started UR it wouldn't have been a social prison until Robins came along.
