I was energized by the atmosphere in the Robins Center and think we have terrific school spirited passionate fans. Nice to get kudos from the opposition in that regard.
How about this from the RTD article:

Earning a No. 1 seed in the NIT, which translated into being among the last four eliminated from NCAA tournament consideration, allowed UR to play three home games. Those Robins Center postseason dates revealed among Spiders' fans fresh passion that was noted by Sendek, Larranaga and Hurricanes guard Sheldon McClellan.

"I wish we had a home crowd like that," McClellan said. "That crowd was fantastic, and (the Spiders) feed off that crowd a lot."

There is no question that the Richmond fans embraced the NIT. Home court advantage can be significant in college basketball.

TV announcers also commented that the Robins Center was "rocking". Compared to the other NIT games I saw, Richmond definitely had some great atmosphere going on. So great to see that!

I know a lot of us were disappointed with the outcome of the game and the season, but I sure hope some of that enthusiasm carries over to next year. We have a great arena, and a strong team worth supporting. If the team plays to its potential (a big "if", I know), the fans will come and the Robins Center will be what everyone wants it to be -- a fun and raucous place to root on the team, and an intimidating place for opponents.

Despite this loss, I'm very encouraged by the last 3rd of the season. I'll be ready when November comes around.

^^Agree all the way around. The fans need to bring the same energy when we have big games here against ODU and Northern Iowa and whoever else in November and December. Those are the games that will earn us an NCAA bid.

Unlike basketball only schools ( example VCU) we don't have to wait til November for Spider fans to get excited! Thankfully we have NCAA Division I football!

Bring on the Turtles!

Go Spiders!

Yea - the last third of the season was so much fun - I hope everyone continues with the support into the fall in The Rob and then back in the fantastic Robins Center in November!

Never thought that I'd see most of our fans in RED, on their feet, and so involved in supporting the Spiders. I think this is the beginning of something really neat, that we have never experienced before in my 50 years of watching.
And how about the guy in the beard, who came out to support basketball at a higher level, and in turn, helped to really get the crowd going. UR made sure he returned by giving him that same seat for free for the Miami game. We need about 2000 more area fans to begin to enjoy and enhance the Robins Center next year, and then it really be a "rocking place".

I salivate what the crowds would be like if we ever got into the big east and had big name programs in our building every week. Somebody send the big east commissioner those media clips of opposing coaches and players compliments.

+1, sdspider. A move to the Big East would be an achievement for our current AD. I have heard that it has been discussed. Call or e-mail Mr. Gill with your support for the move.

Wish for the Big East in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first.

I see the A-10 continually being gutted of it's teams and replaced by CAA teams. We will be left with a 1 or 2 bid conference.

You may be right, but provided that we continue to travel 150 fans to New York for the A10, that will be a problem we'll have to deal with.

The red out for the GW game was the best investment UR has made in a long time. Everybody got a free shirt as opposed to the first 1000 or whatever they have done in the past. And I have seen those red shirts at every game since....and lots of them.

Yea Mo you are right about that. I was headed to MSG next week. Very disappointing.
