Always does just enough to get by making it difficult to move on from him. Regardless of tonight, the body of work 17 years, no March Madness in 11 years, and underachieving this season are justification to make a change. Finally a win over VCU and moving on to play Dayton are not enough in the big picture.
Making March madness this year is still not a guarantee. Thought I let everyone know that. Still have Dayton coming.
How about tomorrow night. UMass likes to play fast and Dayton didn't react well but were fortunate.

Forget the talent that's the youngest team in the country who might just not handle the pressure well. Spiders did everything right tonight like you would expect from an experienced group. Go Spiders!

We were stuck with Mooney for two more years anyway, just enjoy tonight. Big win for us and the kids. Love it !!

Mo, he wins the A10 and Mooney isn't going anyway even if a school wants him. He's going to ride this gravy train as long as possible. He never ever had any intention to go anywhere. He's knows he wouldn't last more than one contract at a P6 school. Mooney is a smart guy who knows his limitations.
C Martin just got fired at Missou after 2 bids in 5 years. B Webber resigned (fired) from K St after 5 bids in 10 years. Those schools want results yesterday. UR higher ups have no ambition to reach the pinnacle with their flagship sport, men's b-ball. And Chris Mooney is perfectly happy with that but not happy with the fans like many on this forum who criticize him and aren't buying into his act.
Yep, Mooney is not leaving. Love beating VCU but we have only accomplished half the goal (4 wins). I think we can get the next two.
I have kind of, although other schools are smarter and actually look at his body of work.
I expect a 2 year extension at end Of season. So at least 4 more years of Mooney. But if they win A10 and make NCAA I would expect 3 year extension ( so 5 more years) AND a raise.
Except that most of us don't have to be surrounded by Dayton fans and media bias on a daily basis.

I thought the big complaint was he didn't get us to the tournament. Well if we win tomorrow, he did exactly what you guys wanted, so why should he be relieved? Or will the goalposts be moved?
I’m in the remove CM camp but ultimately It’s about making the tournament and I’ll be happy if this group breaks this dreadful streak we’ve been on. Be happy if we make it.
1 tourney in 11 years and 3 in 17 years (if we win tomorrow) isn't good enough. But let's save this talk until after tomorrow.

I hope we win and I will be happy for EVERYONE involved but at 71 (tomorrow) the thought of waiting another 11 years is pretty depressing.
Totally get it. Not that old but at UR in the tarrant heyday and it’s just sad to go this long between tournaments.

The goalposts are not get to the NCAA every 12 years, so no the goal posts will not be moved. Low standards.
Don't believe folks dislike Mooney as a person. He is a good guy.
Many believe (me too!) his system is deficient in providing consistent opportunities for NCAA appearances. UR standards should be higher. But hey, I am all in tomorrow. let's make this happen!

Let's be clear about this. If the team wins today and makes the NCAA tournament, it will be because of the kids and their combined desire....not because of Mooney. When they are (mostly) gone next year, the question will be "Do we return to mediocrity?"
The goal posts have been moved. Before - think we were happy making tourney every 4-5 years when we had teams full of upperclassmen. Now I think the school is happy making every 10-12 years when we get lucky.
