Goodman - Ups & Downs

Haha, nice to see Mooney on the good side and VCwho on the bad side.

Feel bad for no. 9 on losers, Anthony Latina. Super nice guy, but has a tough time losing transfers. I was talking to him years ago at a basketball clinic - and he was telling me how he had to do a big presentation to keep his current freshman Cane Broome from transferring. He kept him one more year than lost him to Cincinnati. That was 6 years ago - the beat goes on.

I've been pretty critical of Mooney the past few years but I've got to give him big props for this off-season. I think Mooney and the guys can see the potential for a historic season and are all in. And as the article mentioned keeping our senior class in tact was a huge accomplishment in the age of grad transfers. That added to our good recruiting news has me feeling good about the direction of our program.

Now hopefully that pesky virus doesn't ruin things...

Finally got around to reading this. It was interesting to me that Mooney was the only "Winner" listed who didn't actually land a grad transfer. He won by keeping the big three.

A few of the entries seemed like "Player X transferred from School A to School B, so School A is a Loser and School B is a Winner," which is to be expected, I guess. It was nice to see us included even though that didn't apply to us.

Nice to be included but considering we didn't ever really see any of the three leaving not sure we were really a winner. Maybe we weren't a loser which we would have been had anyone left (ex. Jake I guess)

Looking at the trend of players from mid-majors doing the grad transfer things Mooney's player loyalty is pretty impressive. I personally don't think a lot of these grad transfers to the P-6 level really work out like the players think they will. They often go from being the centerpiece on their team to trying to fit in with an already established team of players of equal or better talent.
