it's JMU week and as others have said we will likely be severe underdogs against the "unbeatable" Dukes...but don't be forlorn Spiders fans...good things have happened often over the years in Turkey town...

let's start with this one from 2009:

it's a great one to get your JMU mojo going...if you watch until "the turnover" that decides it...

I had totally forgotten that Ben Keating was the Spiders offensive hero in this one...

this one was payback for the Scotty Magee defeat a year earlier...it was almost as shocking in a good way...if you watch the video, check out Thorpe after the deciding play...

Go Spiders!

Don't know about "unbeatable" though we appreciate the compliment. If we don't get our offense rolling we're certainly vulnerable. Very rarely is this game not a close one, so I don't expect anyone on our side to overlook the Spiders this week, even with a potential and frankly unexpected "CAA Championship" game vs Elon on the horizon. Wishing health and fair play for both teams this week and hope to see some of yall in Harrisonburg.

I love the video in this thread! That was an awesome moment. I remember my dad and I were at our hunting cabin up in highland county and were following the game on his phone. I'll never forget how we thought we were about to lose as jmu was driving downfield, then my dad yelled "wait Richmond has the ball!" which was when Thorpe lost the ball. Awesome moment!

I absolutely hated Justin Thorpe. He was about the most overrated, overhyped player ever at jmu and we used to always beat him. If we're talking about Justin Thorpe we should also bring up another awesome moment he was involved in from the 2012 game at Robins stadium. jmu went for it on a 4th and short inside their own territory in the second half and Thorpe tried to run up the middle but got absolutely stuffed. He then proceeded to walk to the sideline and chuck his helmet at the jmu bench out of frustration. Mickey Matthews ended up benching him after that and that was the last we ever saw of Justin Thorpe at jmu. 2012 was an awesome win too!
