Golden led NCAA in scoring from 2 feet

Izaiah Brockington of Iowa St leads the nation in making the worst shots? 18,19,20,21 feet?

Sure am glad, Grant spent a large part of the time in our offense, loitering out around the 3 point line. I almost feel giddy that Quinn doesn't shoot three's as it will force Mooney to move his big tall centers to the places where they score most effectively.

That stat truly amazes me. We all know how many easy layups and short shots he missed.

Golden had 109 assists this year, # 2 on the team. You realize that many of those came from out by the 3-point line, to teammates cutting to the basket or open in a corner after the ball had been reversed? Nothing clogs up the driving lanes like a big guy just standing in the lane, waiting for the ball.

Was Golden a great player? No. But he was a very good player for us for four years, a competent scorer and excellent passer. A very unselfish player who complemented our offense. Somehow, despite the shortcomings that many on this board delighted to recount game after game, he managed to score more than 2200 points, collect more than 1000 rebounds and hand out nearly 500 assists.

A guy scoring 2,200 points certainly was positioned in places where he could score effectively. He will be missed.

By the way, I was proud of the kids that did the “One Shining Moment” video for putting in the one time Grant won the toss. Nice touch.
