I think both coordinators will do a fine job. It will be interesting to see how the switch to a 4-2-5 goes on defense.
The problem with Durden is that he could be a one and done kind of guy. He interviewed for the HC position at UTC and was looking at other options as well. If offered a head coach position in FCS or FBS, I am assuming he'd take it. Would love to see him stick around for a while so we can see how the offense plays out.

Got to love anyone who mentions Erk Russell. Remember Erk during time I spent at Georgia when Erk was defensive coordinator, one tough dude. Prior to game, Erk used to hit his head on locker room wall until bleeding; really got his guys fired up.
@fballcoach65 I understand that logic, but would also argue that if he's hired away for a HC spot, it's because he had a successful offense. That's the risk you run of having a successful team. We've had a lot of turnover at the OC position in the last few years, but the momentum doesn't stop.
I'm not disagreeing at all - totally agree that OCs who run dynamic offenses that throw up a lot of points are always a consideration for programs looking to hire. Just being selfish - I like the energy and philosophy, and would like to see him around for a while. I also really like RH and want to see him succeed, and believe that both coordinators will help him do just that.
with a broad brush, most football coaches are fairly conservative, run the ball, don't turn it over and if RH, wants this type of offense, then love it. at this level, you have to score mucho points to be in the mix and if you have a good D on the other side, should win a lot more than you lose. look forward to seeing it down here in the tejas heat, first game.
