We play Mason twice, starting Monday then Wednesday. This will be a crucial series. Have the Spiders ever played a team back to back.

I will be at both wins - looking for someone to drive up 95 with me on Wed …
Looking at the schedule between now and Wednesday, Mason plays 2 away games and a home game. They play away games at LaSalle and at the Robins Center and they get us at their place on Wednesday. The schedule seems to favor us. We have a deeper team, more rest time, and only the away game at Mason.

I was noticing the same thing about their schedule and also on this extremely odd pair of back to back games I think it favors us to play them at home first.
I'm sure we have played sometimes back to back before, though I can't recall doing it in the regular season. More likely the last game of the regular season and first game of the conference tournament.
About 20 years ago we played Mississippi State twice in three or four games I think, but that's about as close as I remember.

The most recent back-to-back I spotted was ECU in 1982, but there was a longer gap...played in the last game of the regular season on Feb 24 and then in first game of ECAC tournament on Mar 4...both wins.
The Mississippi State one was 2001, when we played them at home on Dec 5 as the back end of a home-and-home deal and then met them again on Dec 20 in a Las Vegas tournament...both losses. We faced Charlotte and Cincinnati between those two meetings though.

All Mason has to do is double team Burton the whole game and foul Cayo, and they win.
They lost to LaSalle yesterday, and LaSalle is awful. No excuse for us not to be 8-4 in the league come Wednesday night.
We’d better win both games, and play some bench players. We have a very difficult finish, including VCU, Dayton, StL and Bonnie. We’re going to have to earn that top 4 spot.
You can pretty much say the same thing about any game and any team. Double team the best player and foul the worst free throw shooter. How often does the plan come to fruition?
I don't think Oduro played because he had had a concussion in a previous game. He is their big guy and probably their best player.
Right there. The four you listed should set the stage for our tourney seeding & hopefully top 4. If we are now playing & are where we need to be, then we need to run the table on those or at least go 3-1. Anything less probably puts us back mid pack.
Caveat - I'm assuming we go undefeated this week. Can't afford to go less than 2-1.

They are 11-9 with losses to GW, LaSalle and ODU.
They are also 11-9 with wins at Maryland, and at home vs Dayton and the Bonnies...
GMU is a young team with a young dynamic coach that can either play a great game or a crappy one .. Which means we can either go 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2 against them. Time to get focused. Excited that I will be at both. Go Spiders.

Well, as the experienced team with the experienced coach, we need to go 2-0. Mason had to play Saturday at LaSalle (where they lost) and they have to turn around and be down here less than 48 hours later to play us. Also dealing with some injuries, not sure if Odoru will be back or not. Regardless, we have every conceivable advantage.
Maryland does have 3 Q1 and 3 Q2 wins. Bonnie’s did beat a decent team by 20 at home.
So neither are consistent but both may be decent, just not great.
I'm going to have a few extra tix tonight if anyone is looking for a ticket - they are my season tix so "free to a good home" since my family folks aren't coming tonight and don't want them to go to waste. If you are interested, please reply and a moderator may be able to connect us.
