Francis update

There was not 1 last night so I don’t expect one at 7 am the next day. Hopefully he can practice so he can build character.

Hope it is more of a pain management issue, rather than of course a bad injury, or something that inhibits his movement. I know quite a few did not always love his shot selection, but this is a guy that came in and did everything asked from him since day 1. The SDJ/Cline years we had good skill, but no alpha dog bad ass. That is Francis, he came in and played with the chip on his shoulder and played hard defense from day 1. This sucks for him, but he did walk off under his own power, and if it more of a pain management he will not be denied playing in the A10 tourney. Good luck Blake, hope we see you back on the court and playing your heart out this season.

Imagine he Is sore and stiff this morning and hope it is more bruised ribs and not a fracture or break. 23 I agree that we have needed a fearless attacker but he does drive you crazy sometimes with his shot and shot clock selection.

I agree, but it’s was also nice to see a guy play that Mooney hadn’t broken his confidence and spirit.

This morning I heard that the X-Rays for Blake came back negative. That is fortunate, given where he hit on his back. This guy is a warrior. We all wish him Godspeed towards a speedy recovery. Get well Blake, your health is most important.

A 90% or better Blake is essential to having a shot in this tourney. Hope he is OK and can go on Thursday, would be a huge boost.
I do hope he can go on Thursday. But I feel he will be more necessary on Friday.

Blake's one of out best and he's as tough as they come, but my question with hurt players is always effectiveness compared to replacement players. if Blake's pain affects him defensively then he's not helping on that end. we've got solid defensive guard options on the perimeter in Goose, Isaiah and Dji. and if his pain affects his scoring then he's not helping on that end either.

Mooney responded to Blake's injury last game by making Cayo option #1 on the offensive end. the way Nathan played in the 2nd half, it looked like he always should have been option #1 on offense.

I am certain that Blake feels that he should play, as soon as possible. If anything, he should see limited action at best.

Medical marijuana not recreational - that has to wait until 2024...............

He already said earlier this year that he's done. Part of me has always wondered if there was tension between him and Gilyard. Who knows.

Don't think there was any tension. But I'd say Gilyard is probably closer with Grant, Cayo, and Sherod. But that seems pretty normal since Blake was a transfer

From what I can tell (pure supposition), Blake has a hip pointer. If he were on crutches, which we haven't seen, he would have had the more serious version, which is a break. Hip pointers require long term recovery.

He was supposedly a game-time decision for both of our last two games, the first of which was more than two weeks ago. So unless we're just lying, he should be good to go Thursday.

Did he travel with the team to the Toledo game? Saw Grant in the pics posted by the school, didn't see him (but he could have been there, just not in the photos)

We should dress Nick, bring him in and just have him stand outside the arc and take an open shot or two if he gets a chance.

Grant is still a game time decision. Didn't Mooney say he risks further injury if he plays and it requires surgery, so I'm not a "doctor" but seems to be since his finger isn't getting any better until surgery and he risks further injury by playing, that he is in fact not a game time decision.

But Mooney gonna Mooney with his game time decision mantra. Andre was a game time decision for like 3 weeks earlier this year. I don't know if he thinks he is being strategic, if he is that out of tough with our athletic trainers or if this just another manifestation of rain man routine. I'm going with Door number 3 personally.

I was wondering...
If he isn't coming back, could he play until we leave the bubble?

If he didn't play last week, requires surgery, then what would make things different this week? Since there is probably no improvement w/out surgery, then it seems it boils down to whether GG wants to play or not?????

Why not go beyond keeping the other team updated on the status of our players. We could also send them all of our plays ahead of time or even better, let them attend our practices.
