Interesting way of reasoning. So based on other peoples harsh assessments of Mooney, it makes you more willing to accept his general mediocrity and lack of return on investment the last several years. Mooney and Hardt are playing this fan base like a fiddle. Probably PQ and Mooney, Hardt just has to send his bi annual "its a great time to be a spider" email and go back in his office.
Anything can happen in the first game, I would not have been surprised to even lose this one. Its just a little demoralizing when our defense gives up the same type of plays it has the last 3 years. And the Grace/Golden front court was pure Mooney genius I will say. Need a 6'9 athletic guy to insert for a 3 minute stretch. We can't seem to recruit one.

I think even Moon can yell and emphasize D and we will probably play better for a game or two, but it is a culture that is not ingrained. And you cannot have 2 to 3 sub par defenders in at a time and expect to somehow cover it up
In addition to our inability to play defense, the problem is that if we win it’s ok, if we lose it’s ok, if we try it’s ok, if we show up and “compete” it’s ok… everything is just “ok,” and there’s zero urgency or accountability. That starts at the top and has been an underlying problem forever. That’s why year after year we come out flat and lackadaisical so frequently. It’s why we play down to inferior competition. And it keeps happening over and over and over again.

This is a game you win with the type of roster UR has. Any other mid major program that has an entire starting 5 of 5th and 6th year seniors typically goes on to make a truly spectacular run. I’m talking like some of those Wichita state of gonzaga teams that have been national title contenders. Wonder why this team isn’t doing that?
