Fire Stallings!!!!!!

Yes and Bryce can have almost 3 times as many fans cheering him on - if Stallings goes Bryce could sign with the Spiders and enjoy playing bb with his brother...............

if he wanted to play with his brother he'd be here. we showed him all the love in the world. he chose Pitt.
that said ... if the coach that recruited him to Pitt is fired I guess there's a chance. I didn't give up on AW for 5 years, so I guess I can go a few with Bryce.

Agree but he didn't know how dominant a player his brother was going to be this year when he signed with Pitt. And oh yeah hang on with the possibility of Bryce and Grant playing together at Richmond..................

I feel that is perhaps Bryce wanted to forge his own path. I get that. Yet given the Pitt situation, it may temper that desire a bit. It would be cool if it did happen.

Some of the comments to the article 23 linked show the degree of frustration of Pitt fans; for example

IF you had to write a book on how to destroy a basketball program Pitt's moves over the last 3 years would take up 3 chapters.

it's obviously a long shot. he could leave Pitt and get a ton of other high major offers.

I don't think Pitt fires Stallings after 2 seasons, but if their attendance numbers truly are between 2k and 3k, that is just horrible. They will likely go winless in conference this year, and possibly next year too, but the $10million buyout in just the 2nd year is too much to swallow, even for an ACC school. But then again, a 4-32 ACC record in the first 2 years coupled with the dismal attendance may be enough for Pitt to pull the trigger. If Stallings is fired and Bryce decommits, the Solly departure, GG being the key focus of our offense, and the need for another 4/5 is almost too serendipitous.

Bryce would be a perfect fit for this program given his style of play and the success his brother has here. Mooney's system really targets players like Grant and Bryce because they can stretch defenders, play well in the post, have height, and have strength to play defense. I don't think Pitt will fire its coach after 2 seasons only on poor performance/poor attendance. It'll take off the court issues for that happen

Be great to have both the Golden Boys here. Bryce would most certainly be 6th man next year and play a ton. Play three years with his brother. The Golden’s seem like a wonderful family and we are very lucky to have Grant.

What an intriguing possibility. At this point it certainly looks like we are back on a positive path and it certainly looks like Pitt may be continuing towards a much bleaker future and perhaps a path to nowhere. .
It would be really nice if Bryce were to reach out and take a visit at some point with the thought of joining us. Having two "skilled Bigs" who know each other, and who can pass to one-another, could be really exciting. Would not have seen this as likely to happen about 3 weeks ago, but now we can certainly hope that the thought is crossing Bryce's mind, and that the two brothers may be keeping in touch....

The real reason Bryce Golden didn't come to UR is that he knows that Mooney doesn't play 2 big men at the same time. Why would he want to be the sub for his bigger and older brother?:confused::(

p.s. Bryce is certainly good enough for the above scenario to not be in play, but Mooney observers know that my tongue-in-cheek statement is more truth than fiction.

Bryce signed an LOI. He’s not coming here unless he’s released.

Even CM would find a way to play both Goldens though.

I think if Bryce was quick enough on D to play the four and yet could handle the ball and shoot
outside like Grant, he would start with Grant. When subbed it would be rarely at the same time,
maybe if Grant goes out, Bryce moves to the 5.

But my guess is we will never see whether or not that would be the case. Last brother combo at
the same time I remember was Bob and Steve McCurdy. I think Jared and Greg Stevenson were
not playing here at the same time.

Agreed. He probably wanted his own college experience and his own athletic career. If Pitt fires its coach, he’ll probably end up at a different high major. You never know though

Only hope is that Stallings get canned, but that probably won't happen for another year at least. I suspect Bryce would transfer to another P6 program before he would come here.

His mom posted on twitter when Bryce committed to Pitt that it was between Pitt and UR. So if he were to somehow leave Pitt, it wouldn't be inconceivable to think he comes to UR

Unless, of course, Mrs. Golden has to come onto social media to chastise UR fans for starting social media campaigns to get the coach fired. Thank god that hasn't happened...

If Bryce were to start looking seriously into a transfer to UR I would expect him to have conversations about his "future position," and would expect assurances that he would be targeted for the 4 (Power forward) and as a back-up to Grant at the 5 (as needed). The main reason that CM has not played two "Bigs" together, is fairly obvious, but should be stated anyway. It is that he has not had two "Quality Bigs" on his roster, at the same time in the past. If Bryce is the player I believe he is, and if Grant continues to develop, there is no way that CM would NOT play them together. Besides, they are both good passers, and they know each other well, so having two Bigs who can feed the ball to each other would be an absolute joy to behold. And, I suspect it would be a lot of fun for the Golden brothers too.

Would love to see it happen, and if I were Bryce the last reason I would have for not coming to UR is that I would not get playing time. If he is here, and if he is as good as advertised, he will start (probably at the 4) from Day-1, and remain in the line-up until he graduates. We can adjust the rest of the line-up to make this happen. Mortal lock.

The kid chose Pitt over us and I doubt something will happen for him to reconsider UR if somehow he got out of his LOI which is also highly unlikely. I wish nothing but the best for him personally and his basketball career at Pitt. We should be grateful that we have Grant.

Let's not have this thread turn into another AWIII thread...

Pitt sucjed when he committed to them, and they suck now. As long as Stallings isn't fired, he'll go to Pitt. If Stallings is fired, I guess it could be a little bit interesting.

This is why I say FIRE STALLINGS!!!

This is the kind of thing/luck we need to get a good 3-4 run going. We always seem to be 2-3 players away from critical mass. If we could get Bryce, and a couple stud recruits next year and we could be in business for awhile. This never seems to go our way though.

He'll play tow big men together if he's got two quality big men. If not Bryce, Sal will be on the floor with Grant... Not next year so much but a lot over the next 3 years.

So Pittsburgh goes winless in ACC play. Ouch. Stallings seat is hot, and it's likely 50/50 he gets canned in the coming days. Anyone have any new scoop on Bryce Golden? If we were really in his final 2, I've got to think we're back in the mix if Stallings gets fired, despite our mediocre year. And even if he survives, next season's prognosis doesn't get any better, and it's even more likely Stallings is fired. If I'm Bryce, I want to avoid at all costs going to a school where I'm potentially looking at transferring after my first year.

I would put the chances at Stallings returning at much closer to zero than 25%. I realize a school in the A10 like Richmond might consider returning a coach than went 0-18 in league play but that crap doesn't fly in the ACC.

The chances of Bryce coming here after he is fired is also much closer to zero.

$10 million buyout is the main thing holding them back from firing him. That is a tough pill to swallow for any AD.
