FCS playoffs-for those interested

I see JMU and South Dakota State getting through the top of the bracket to the Semifinals.

A sleeper for me in the bottom half of the bracket is Samford.

I would not be surprised to see the Dakota Marker rematch in the national championship game.

I know it's to keep travel cost down and maybe make fan travel easier but having teams from the same conference potentially play in the second round is kind of ridicules. JMU V. Stony Brook, Wofford vs Furman.

Speaking of Wofford; how many playoffs has Wofford made over the last 10 years? I know the acceptance standards aren't the highest but for a school with 1600 students they have had a pretty good run.

Having Jerry Richardson as an alum and a wingbone offensive scheme have both served Terriers well.

I assume these are all Wofford games, and add 2017, overall pretty impressive.

Yes, all Wofford. With last game each year being a loss.
Format went crazy if I added scores...

Stony Brook might be able to hang in there with the Dukes. Solid run game, experienced QB and a pretty sturdy D.

Agree Mo. Carbone has developed and is a decent QB now. Dukes will have to respect pass and hopefully SB can get the run game going. Defensively, I fell like SB could give JMU trouble.

Carbone is not in the same league as Schor.Big advantage JMU.Lehigh’s Defense was/is woefully inadequate.Benedictine’s JV QB would have looked good v Lehigh’s Defense yesterday.

Lehigh Defense (FCS Rank)
Yards: 5732 (124)
Passing Yards: 2824 (107)
Rushing Yards: 2908 (123)

Touchdowns: 66 (124)

Anyone who watches the UR/JMU game now has a playbook for beating JMU. While Carbine is nowhere near KL, they are quite capable if they follow suit.

jmu will not win it all this year. Schor can't get it done by himself on offense because he's not that good. Abdullah and the running game helped make him look so much better than he is last year. I was at the uva Tech game this past weekend and a friend of mine from jmu was there as well and he was talking about jmu football some. He said he thinks that if jmu wins again this year that schor should go in the top THREE ROUNDS of the draft this year. I shut that down pretty quick. The guy would be lucky to get drafted. Zero arm talent at all. Not sure I've ever seen him throw a pass 15 yards past the line of scrimmage because he probably isn't capable of it.

SBU JMU -20.5

Kenn St JAX St -9.5

Furman Wofford +3.5

SDak SAM pk

UNH CentArk -13.5

UNI SDSU -8.5

SDiego NDSU -29.5

Weber SUtah -8.0

UNH exposes the Southland again, taking out Central Arkansas. JMU rolls over SBU. And Kennesaw surprisingly takes down Jax State.

Kennesaw football is in its third year of existence...pretty amazing.

Idaho dropping back to FCS, they will be a force. Plus love the nick name Vandals.
More schools need to do this IMO. Shame GSU and App St paid more just to lose more. Most JMU fans I know like the level they are playing at.

IMO it would be great if FCS got bigger. The 24-team playoff field wouldn't seem as ridiculous.

Who was the last team to move down before this?

"Idaho announced an unprecedented move today - the Vandals will move from FBS, college football's highest level, down a level to FCS in the first such move in the FBS-FCS era that wasn't motivated by an NCAA mandate."

So is the answer, "us"?

No team has moved from FBS down to FCS of its own accord.

The last move down of any sort that I'm aware of was 1982, when the NCAA moved the Ivy, SoCon, and Southland down in their entirety.

Edit: I'm changing my answer. The NCAA moved North Texas down from I-A to I-AA for the 1983 season. They moved back up in 1995.

Good move for Idaho. The only reason it went up to FBS was a misguided effort to keep up with Boise State, but it never could find an FBS league that was a good fit. Now it will be reunited with its historical rivals. Some alums are against it, but (like with us) it's the right move for the competitive future of the program.

It's a hard place to get to, but the UI campus is very pretty and Moscow is a fun college town. I've been to a game there and the Kibbie Dome is kind of a cool place, nicer than the UNI dome from what I've seen.

come on UNH and (I hate to say it) but JMU. An all CAA semifinal would be great.
