We enjoyed the golden years of the CAA under Clawson and London and even Rocco, with strong rivalry teams, JMU, WM, Nova Del, ASU, but those days are gone. The portal has killed any sort of team building. The FCS teams in the west are strong because they are drop down teams (fbs to fcs transfers). The teams in the east are jump up teams.
This is no excuse for Huesman’s qb option offense but he has lost a number of good defensive players who moved up, three off the top of my head are playing in the NFL.
I’m not Carnac, but something is going to give. The semi pros may leave and fine. I’m not sure what that does for their academic standing or if they even care.
For Richmond, there needs to be a lot of soul searching and then decide. They need to understand if they don’t already, that the current student body and the last 10 years or so of the student body makeup, just don’t care about sports and the administration does not want to change.
Upping our games to the A10 with its Northeast centered region did not spark any great enthusiasm from alums or students in that area.
ODAC is Virginia centered. Again the administration has alienated this area.
So my question would be to the Powers governing the school. What the h do you want?…..
Except our money (threw that in for us old folks, right Rick,,because I’m with you)!
