Just a random thread to kill some time with the quarantine - but what are some of your favorite Spider games (conference or non-conference) since UR joined the A10. Can be regular season, post-season - anything really.

One of my favorites was the semifinal against X in the 2010 when we won 89-95 in OT in a real heavyweight fight. That was a great game to be at. There was also another ridiculous game either that year or the next at X, I think it was the last regular season game and we got screwed a bit and lost, but it was an insane game.

Lots of battles with Xavier in the early days. Remember the David West game where he got into it with the fans in pre-game then a small fight broke out in the tunnel after the game. Think we lost that game - but it was a battle and one for the memory books.

Spiders win over VCU at home after coming back from 7 down with 33 seconds left and Brothers hit a tying 3 to send to
OT and then Spiders ran away from the Rams in OT.

I was at that game in the second row of the student section. Was my freshman year at Richmond. I’ll never forget it, even down to the contortionist who performed at halftime.

That’s the game that spawned my friends and me’s love for Spider basketball

It was the same year - at X, we lost in 2OT.

For me, it starts with with the 2011 A10 Championship, although we played so well that game, Dayton was just outmatched. So even though the game itself wasn't great, it's the only time we've cut down the nets in 20 plus years.
The semifinal win against Temple was a thriller. It's right up there with the 2010 Semi that EL picked.

NIT win at Minnesota.
Win at Kansas
2011 blowout of VCU - there's no way anyone who saw that game thought VCU was NCAA-worthy, much less a Final Four team!
2018 comeback against VCU - towards the end of a lost season, still a great experience. It had everything - Buck to the hospital, Mooney tearing up, Freshman Cayo coming off the bench and playing defense out of his mind, and Jacob/Khwan out-havoc-ing the Rams.

I would think beating Dayton to win the A-10 tourney, and then beating Vandy and Morehead St. would have to be at or at least near the top of everyone's list. What is better than a tourney title and wins in the dance? But, after that the VCU game and X games that were mentioned are up there. Also, the Kansas game and more recently, the win over Cal, and NIT wins over Bama, Oakland, and ASU were exciting wins.

The 2011 sh*tcanning of VCU is right up there for me, as if the come from behind win over them where Brothers hit the 3 to force OT. Those Xavier games in 2011 were classics, both of them, even though we lost won of them.

The Vandy game has to be up there. Morehead St. we beat handily, I know it was for a Sweet 16 birth, but that game was never in doubt.

One other game was I remember was a 2009 game against Xavier. It was toward the end of the year, Xavier was ranked, and we blew their doors off in the second half. I remember thinking, man we are going to be really good the next couple years after that game. And indeed we were.

This one, KA outplayed Tu Holloway in that game, just beautiful. Those two years in AC were the highlights of the last 15 years for me.

Gosh...AC was so good. And so blurry...

The first year of the A-10. Was my freshman year. Distinctly remember getting into Dulles from Cancun over Spring Break, going to my best UR friends house at watching finals vs Xavier. We lost but it knew UR could play.

Students showing 2 hours pregame vs XU...West is still soft. No matter what his bro says.

I agree with the 2010 X game in the A-10 semis...it's a game I won't forget and spawned a good road trip...

due to circumstances beyond my control I was not able to be in AC for the game, or able to watch it on TV...I was barely able to catch the second half call by Bob Black...

even listening on radio it was a very emotional win which probably cemented an NCAA At-Large Bid...

after the win I did the unthinkable...I talked The Sheriff and Scooper into driving to AC for the 1PM Sunday Championship game between the Spiders and Temple

next morning around 5:00AM we left for AC arriving in plenty of time to enjoy the stench in the parking garage, the Boardwalk and the ancient Hall...

you may recall Temple was ahead the entire game, but the 2010 team had many similarities to this year's team...they never gave up...had a great point guard and some shooters... and finally caught up in the final minutes which were pretty damn exciting...

maybe next season the 2021 Spiders can replicate the 2011 Spiders.

Go Spiders!

Minnesota in the NIT in our first year A10 was a good one. Followed by getting Syracuse at the Robins Center the next game - we lost, but that was a great crowd and atmosphere at the Robins Center. And I think Syracuse went on to win national title following year with Carmelo Anthony as frosh.
Another good one that I think gets forgotten a lot - beating Stanford on their home floor in Wainwright's first year.

I believe that Minnesota game is the only time we've won a third game in a (non-conference) post-season tourney.

Still a little sore I missed that one. I was there for the loss to Pepperdine the day before, but had a plane to catch home for Xmas the following day. The Cardinal had lost to Montana in their first game to set up our matchup in the "losers" game. Ranked Stanford team went winless in their own invitational.

For regular season u can't top Kansas, but the Florida win in the Orange Bowl Classic back in 09 was big. Little biased since I attended but I thought it really signaled Spider bball was back and helped propel us into the back to back NCAAs.

1. Temple game at the Robins Center in the middle of a heavy snowstorm, might have been 2010 but I'm not sure. Not many were able to make it to the game but we thrashed them, and I think they were like top 20 team at the time.
2. The first half of the VCU game at the RC, maybe 2015? The details are fuzzy but I'm pretty sure we were up by 30 IN THE FIRST HALF. I was surrounded by the unwashed Lambs who were loud and rude prior to the start of the game, and dead silent, and I mean SILENT, during the game.
3. Any game that we won in Atlantic City in 2010 and especially 2011...

I also enjoyed the Arizona State NIT game a few years back and the Oakland game in TJ and ShawnDre's senior year.
