This makes me sad. Though I’m not sure how Vcu has a better resume than us. And they certainly will not once we beat them in a couple weeks and again in the A10 tourney.
Do you not understand how NET team sheets work? They currently have 4 (possibly 5) wins that are better than our best win as well as no Q4 losses to our one.Though I’m not sure how Vcu has a better resume than us.
I need a little more positivity from you, killer“We’re right where we want to be” - Grant Golden. Real quote not fake.
While espn is typically the last place I go for stats or predictions I think a lot of Richmond players & coaches will remarkably be very surprised to not be included.
Relax 8Legs1CrankyAttitude. Thank you for adjusting your post to actually make the point. My point was more VCU shouldn’t be on the bubble either.Do you not understand how NET team sheets work? That is why their resume is better than ours
Good post and agree with your points.VCU is in because of the wins mentioned above AND the fact they have been to the tourney almost every year for the past 10 years. When you do that and your on the fringe of the bubble, you will get included. When your a team that has not been very close most of the last 10 years - you don't get the benefit of the doubt. We have a very difficult stretch coming up. Win the next 2 - Mason and LaSalle.
But then we are looking at
@VCU
@GW
SLU
Dayton
@Bonnies
Ideally - win out and that puts on bubble (outside looking in). But realistically - I think we hope for 4-1 to finish the season. Either way really - I think even if we make the bubble watch, we probably have to make the A10 finals to have a real shot, and if we are not on the bubble - we have to win the A10 tourney (make the finals and win) - so both scenarios have us in the A10 finals, so might as well win it if we make it that far.

Correct, I understand why we aren’t on the bubble, which is what I would expect for VCU.No, your point was "I’m not sure how Vcu has a better resume than us."
Unless one of your other personalities typed that.
Agreed. I don't like this team's chances in the A10 tourney because we are not deep and we don't play good defense. Our only hope is we secure a top 4 spot and that gives us 2 less games to play. We have a better chance of shooting well for 2-3 games than 4. And I also worry fatigue sets in. We can survive with 7 deep in regular season because of rest between games - but get into a scenario where we have to play 3-4 straight days, it becomes very difficult.And then there is that little problem that we have not made an A10 finals since we won it in 2011.
And even more disheartening is that our admin, faculty, main donor, AD, and athletic department are all OK with the results. It really is a remarkable record of underpreformance that is accepted by the school.Agreed. I don't like this team's chances in the A10 tourney because we are not deep and we don't play good defense. Another reason I think VCU does well in the A10 tourney setting - they go deep into their bench on a regular basis, so when it comes time for A10 tourney - the guys are used to it. It is a result of their hectic style and wanting to keep guys fresh, but you can't argue the results. Since their first A10 season in 2013 - they have been to 6 A10 finals, and won 1 of them. Not great at winning them - but as we all know. just getting to the finals has many times secured their spot in NCAA tourney.
Since 2013 - we have been to 0 A10 finals, and in our A10 history have only been to 3 overall (2 with Mooney and 1 with JB).
Don't look now but if the A10 tournament started today we would be playing GW in the 2nd round and should we advance would be matched up with the Lambs in the quarterfinalsFinals?! We’ve only been to the a10 SEMIFINALS twice since 2011. And of course we lost both to VCU.
Yeah, VCU really hasn't done anything to make them at large worthy, yet their they are. The "bubble" is always very soft and teams really don't have to do all the much to be in consideration. Which of course makes our not even being in consideration all the more glaring.Relax 8Legs1CrankyAttitude. Thank you for adjusting your post to actually make the point. When did he say this? I think him and Gilly room together. That room must be the god damn happiest place on earth. Not grounded in reality mind you, but content as shit.“We’re right where we want to be” - Grant Golden. Real quote not fake.

I think it was Monday. Posted on the Twitter just yesterday. Good interview as long as you completely ignore that opening.
3 DavidsonWe’re not getting an at-large even if we win out. There are so many at-large bids for non P6 schools, the A10 is in a down year, and we haven’t beaten anyone. The mid-major top 25 doesn’t even list us:
What makes me laugh the most about this segment with Grant - the tagline of "Grant Golden reflects on his 6 years at UR".
not sure why anything in that segment makes you laugh. the guy collapsed on the court. he came back this year because he could. he loves it here and loves the relationships he's made. great interview.What makes me laugh the most about this segment with Grant - the tagline of "Grant Golden reflects on his 6 years at UR".
He is 24 years old right now. 24! Most guys graduate college at 21-22 I think. I wonder with so many of these "super seniors" sticking around if the University is letting them contribute and match to the UR retirement plan.
Agreed. Grant is going places professionally for sure.that's a great interview. highly recommend watching. thanks for sharing.
we're not where we wanted to be record-wise. I think his point is we're not done. it's not over. he believes we can win. and that's of course how a player should feel. fans can mope about the record but players can't. always look forward.
Yes, of course, you should always look forward, but you should also be learning from the past so as to not repeat the same errors over and over again.that's a great interview. highly recommend watching. thanks for sharing.
