I have a strange sense that we will have a number of key players that enter the portal but I sincerely hope that I’m 100% wrong.

Sideline coaching this past Saturday didn’t help.Russ seemed to constantly interfere with both OC and DC calls,Not a way to run an airline especially if you know nothing about the offensive side of the ball.

Let’s hope not , I hate the scenario we have in college sports now driven by MONEY!
You can’t blame any college Athlete that wants to better themselves. I saw it in our Basketball program and hope we don’t see the same with our Football program. All that we have left to market to keep them here is our 1st rate College Degree!🤞I sensed some dissatisfaction on some of our best players in the second half Saturday, hopefully because of their performance and not our coaching debacles 😩

Let's hope that Huesman is right when he says they love each other.
Lot of R-Jr players that could complete degrees after exams or certainly by May, kind of scary.

The question is what mix of factors drove each decision - FBS, Patriot League, facilities, coaching, etc?

The reality is that this will happen every year for teams like us who are good and in FCS. Whether it’s good coaches who will move up the ranks or players seeking opportunities and NIL money of FBS. Conversely though, our success also lends us to be an attractive location for coaches and high school/transfer players even if it’s for 1-2 years.

Huesman de-emphasized passing in an attempt to control clock and give defense a break because of lack of depth.Strategy not so hot for a QB that can throw.

The Coleman-Wickersham preseason competition was a sham.Coleman coming into Wofford game down by 14 with 6mins was a joke after 4 picks by Wickersham.
Should have entered game much earlier. That’s on Huesman.

Huesman overused a transfer RB Zach Palmer who is 5-9,190(on a good day).Way too much reliance on a kid who took that pounding week in and week out even with an A+ OL.

Winston lost control of the offense to Huesman dictates which handcuffed Coleman.

Hey everyone, let’s just face it. These players are leaving because they are better than FCS football and will be paid also. Our level of football has been destroyed by the Big time NCAA. None of the above were reasons they are leaving . It all started as High level FCS programs saw the future and are trying to save their football programs by moving up

Well, we couldn’t have lost any more important pieces. Hopefully we can replace them in short order somehow.

Or the other side of the coin maybe Huesman and October’s coaching and handling of the personnel we have and caused them to be dissatisfied? What do y’all think?

Heard from a parent that Huesman's offensive philosophy would be the reason a number of guys would leave.

Does anyone know about transfers from other schools? Are any of the freshman from Lehigh who played this year leaving? What about Stoney brook? Those two schools seem to have the new breed of top coaches so I’m wondering if their top players are staying more than ours. I also think about the Hampton QBs. Wouldn’t mind either of those guys on our team.

In fairness, while I’m not a huge fan of Huesman overall, ZPS and Coleman both were given every chance to thrive in this offense and they did. They should be thrilled with how things went. They’re both going to get paid now. If other offensive players are leaving because they were unhappy with less playing time or because they thought the scheme wasn’t productive enough, that seems like a tougher argument to make overall after the season we just had.

Until we get a new AD that is willing to actually make coaching decisions other than “extend the old school”; this is what we’re going to have for our money sports. It’s depressing.

Stony Brook lost an All American WR with three years left and a grad WR, along with a long snapper so far. Won’t know about Lehigh until they lose.

Keep in mind that FBS rosters have to be reduced to 105, but scholarships can increase from 85 to 105. Lots of FBS players will be in the portal, so we will see how UR benefits. The staff has done a terrific job of handling the portal.

One of the players you mentioned was academically holding on by a thread.

With roster limits coming to FBS the transfer portal could get crazy. I read that UVA would be looking for 40 to 50 new players.

Cosh to UVA? And they should be looking for 40-50 new players anyway… apparently the ones they have aren’t very good.

I suggest we all take a breath. This new landscape in college football impacts FCS programs that have talented players and win games. Kudos to our staff for recruiting kids that win games and excel enough to be recognized as all-conference players. We have won 10 games and a conference championship back to back years. Somebody is doing something right. It’s ironic that none of these three kids that are entering the portal were even starters for Game 1. That speaks also to the depth of talent on our roster. There will always be some that want more and leave early but there will also be those like Jermiah Grant, Jabril Hayes, Wayne Galloway, Tom Elia, Cade Salyers and Nick DeGennaro that stick it out. As long as we can keep getting young talent, mix in transfers as needed and maintain enough upperclassmen that love UR for what it is, we will be fine.

Same article stated that UVA wanted to be Harvard Monday thru Friday and Alabama on Saturday and therein lies the problem with their football program. Talk about having your hands tied.

Was about to post something along these same lines about our coaching staff finding talent and developing them to the point they are good enough to move up to FBS, not to mention the three they found that are in NFL now.

NIL is going to be tough on FCS schools as time goes on, not liking having to get used to it though.

Huesman is 21-3 in CAA the past 3 years, won back-to-back CAA titles, 3 playoff appearances in a row, has a 6-2 record vs. W&M, and is getting good HS recruits/transfers despite losing our best players each year in this new era of college football. Was it not a good decision for Hardt to continue Huesman’s contract?
