When Mark Turgeon realized he had lost support of the Terrapin fans and the alumni, as well as
the team not playing up to its potential, and to save his family any more trauma from the criticism
he went to the Maryland A.D. and resigned.
I wonder if Chris has thought that it might be in his best interest?

I suspect mark turgeon felt way more heat from the fan base and probably had an AD very ready to take his resignation. I don’t know that either exist here.

But it’s certainly a reasonable question give the failure to produce this year and last year with all the talent on the team.

If Mooney had integrity, he would resign at the end of the season. He needs to resign for the good of the program and frankly for the good of himself. He's taken the program as far as he can take it.
Will he? Heck no. He is addicted to the gravy train of cash he's got flowing in.

As I always say his check cashes regardless of whether we will win or lose, so his seeing a bunch of positives in the post game, par for the course. Most coaches would be gutted after a very close loss to your heated rivalry. Not Mooney though. The fire has been gone from this guy for a while. #Resign.

I think it's pretty ridiculous to expect or hope that the guy would resign ... and question his integrity if he doesn't. I know I wouldn't. I'd continue to bust my tail and do the best job I could every year. that's what I agreed to do.

we offered that contract. he signed it. to coach us for X years. if we want to move on we have to bite the bullet and fire him.

There's also those things of a coach having a purpose and ego. I'm not sure where Mooney ends up on those classifications, but his continued coaching our program is blatantly counterproductive. I suspect he really believes that HE is the answer to our future.

If we are no more than mid pack A10 with this year's team and skills, I challenge any of the few Mooney hanger ons to present your case as to why there is a productive future with him at the helm.

I'd be shocked if he willingly resigned without pressure. I'm guessing the gravy train continues.

People with integrity resign when they know they are not capable of performing a job up to the expectations. It is called being honest with yourself and your employer. I know that is often lost in this day and age.

It should go down like this:

Hardt: Hey Chris, have you given any thought to resigning?

Mooney: No, not at all.

Hardt: Oh. Well, I just know your kids are getting older and you probably want to be more available in their lives and everything.

Mooney: Yeah, but I'm able to be pretty involved as it is.

Hardt: I see. Well, think about it a little more and let me know.

Mooney: I don't need to, why would I resign? We finished fifth in the league and made it to the quarterfinals of the a10 tournament!

Hardt: THINK ABOUT IT. VERY. CAREFULLY. LIKE NOW.

Mooney: I'm not sure what you mean.

Hardt: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MAN, HOW MANY HINTS DO YOU NEED?

Turgeon aside (who had to be really unhappy), practically nobody in the world resigns from a million dollar job. and I'm ceratin CM believes he can win.

Mooney for sure has plenty of time from about mid March to November to spend with his family. Not like he has anything going on that time of year for the last 11 years. I would assume he’s pretty good at golf too.

Oh, I'm sure he believes he can win too but that is some delusional thinking at this point. Damn, if I failed for 11 straight years at my job, I certainly might begin to think, hmmm, self, maybe their is something else in life that I could do better at than this. Of course, self reflection is not his strong point either.

Yeah, I know he isn't going to resign. Which is why we need to fire his ass as soon as the season is over?

he won’t resign nor should he imo. It happens but very rarely. That’s not his responsibility it’s the school’s. Another reason buyouts r worked in. That was on us to do so which we 100% should have. As 8legs said he has to be held accountable by others.

Can we change the “or” to “and” and get a twofer? It would be good for the coach and the enabler to both be replaced.
I don't like Hardt, I think he is tone deaf and completely disengaged. That said, it remains to be seen, if he is handcuffed by Queally on what to do with Mooney.

After a blowout road win like last night, me thinks resigning should not be a consideration. Can you guys lighten up?
Really, what we need is to start our own league with just us and Duquesne. It's the one team Mooney has always owned. We'd go 18-0 in the conference season, then lose to them in the first round of the tournament like last year. But also, that would be the title game, so we could say we've made it to the finals every year regardless, even though the league wouldn't have an autobid.
