DELAWARE FIRES BROCK

Lots of college football coaches getting canned during the season this year. I thought that was against the "rules" in college athletics?? I am glad to see it happening, because if a program has seen enough, why wait til the end of the year? Delaware has really fallen on its face the last few years.

is Tubby Raymond still alive?...if not, he may be rolling in his grave, if so, maybe they should bring him back to finish the season...

the once mighty Blue Hens have fallen badly in the last few years..

Go Spiders!

Tubby would have a tough time with implementing the spread option given his single wing offensive preference through the ages.

The new AD is no nonsense fundraiser. She comes out of Michigan. When she arranged the home and home with the Bizon it signaled a strong preference for the Blue Hens to get back to prominence.Brock has proven he ain't the guy to make that happen.

Here is the abbreviated bio of the AD:

"Rawak (RAY-wok) has spent more than a decade in athletics at Michigan, where she currently oversees external relations and strategic initiatives. In Ann Arbor, she launched the first comprehensive athletics fundraising campaign raising more than $316 million to date. She personally raised more than $170 million, including securing an unprecedented $100 million gift. Her oversight responsibilities include fundraising, ticket sales, brand management, external communications, public relations, marketing, advertising, community relations, graphic design and creative, research, analytics and database management, digital and social media, constituent engagement, radio and television, corporate sponsorship, trademarks and licensing, events and game day experiences."

Brock's last game-a loss to Jimmye

Great for them. Administrators all over the CAA that consider football to be an inconvenience should take notice. Winning matters.

This one didn't require an advanced degree. The prior AD, Eric Ziady, took for granted how hard it is to win at this level and hired an unqualified buddy of his. Terrubly unqualified hire. There's not much more to it.

I hope the Hens hire someone good. A strong UD is good for the CAA and all of FCS.

Richt got fired because uga discovered that south carolina was going to hire kirby smart, ex uga player, from alabama staff.

As a kid, I remember the Tubby Raymond led Hens coming into UR Stadium and beating up on the Spiders. I can't believe how far UD has fallen since those days and even since the Keeler era. I also would have never thought that UR would become a national power year in and year out. I hope UD finds a good coach and returns to the top tier of the CAA. It only make the CAA stronger.

Agreed B. I was raised on Blue Hen football. When I went to UR in the late 90's, I figured I'd be lucky if the Spiders beat the Hens more than 2 or 3 times out of 10. My, have times changed.

I think a big part of this is we are comfortable with our identity as an FCS school. Large swaths of the UD fanbase think they should be FBS. They also have not done enough to improve facilities . Brock, unfortunately , was a pretty disastrous hire. The good news for UD is they can probably dig out quickly if they make a good hire.

MO, how has their attendance been, know they will filler up when they get back, but what about now?

also, what will they eventually do about fbs?

1- Personally, i don't see them going FBS. By the time they fix what ails them, the cat will be out fo the bag on "Group of 5" football being a major money loser.
2- Attendance has not been particularly strong but still very good for an FCS school. I believe at their peak, they had between 11,000 and 12,000 season ticket holders. I think i read that it might be about 6,000 now. For frame of reference, i think we have about 4,000 for a school that's about 1/8th the size.

Delaware can get it going again but they really, really need a good hire now. CAA Football is better with a strong Delaware.
