missed an opportunity to ask Coach Huesman last night about last season's 2017 freshmen...Coach stated again his preference and expectation that the 2018 class redshirt this coming season

I believe at least a few of the 2017 class played as true freshmen...

does anyone know how many actually red shirted and of those who did red shirt which ones are most likely to make an impact in the coming season?

thanks...

I think we redshirted all of them with the exception of Vinson, Springs and Dressler.

Caleb Brooks is the guy I'm most looking forward to seeing in Spring Ball. He had some solid offers in high school and we need an explosive defensive end or 3.

The thing Coach brought up is the pending rule allowing players to keep their red shirt even if they play in 4 or less games. That would change the entire dynamic.

Correct that Springs, Vinson and Dressler were the only ones that played - all others sat the entire year.

I believe 10 were redshirted last year and three played which is a good thing. They needed that year to get bigger and stronger. Don't know all of them who redshirted, but I recall that Russ was impressed by the talent he locked up.

understand some PWO's will not return, any news on who that might be. Tough to be one and commend anyone for trying. Wish them all the best.

Kobie may have another calling but hopes he stays with pigskin.

Jimmy has height but needs to hang out at DHall for 12/3.5

Looking like Cole Hartley (RB) is the only PWO not coming back. All others are in mat drills and planning on being a part of the 2018 team, including Kobie. No other roster departures. Some of those injured last year are coming along very nicely, and should be able to practice this spring/summer, with the exception of Micah Keels, who will not likely be back until August or later.
