Most of us have been on an emotional roller coaster the past several weeks with the Coach Rocco Saga. I will admit I was one of Coach Rocco's biggest proponents as I truly admired and respected the guy as a coach and man. He came in and stabilized our program and led us back to national prominence in football. My feelings have changed at this point as he chose to leave and publicly air his frustrations at a point
I believe he already knew he would be coaching at a conference rival university. His public statements in my opinion, were made not move our program forward but as a parting shot to cripple our legitimacy in regards to our commitment to football. We as alumni must now focus on supporting our administration and university as we are not a program struggling to be a consistent winner. We have been to the playoffs the last three years and been in the Semifinals and quarterfinals the past two seasons. We in fact happened to win a football National Championship only eight years ago before Rocco ever stepped foot on campus. The University of Richmond football program is bigger than one man and we will continue to be so if we all step up our support. I think most will again come to realize this once oUR next coach is hired. One man will not bring this program down.

Amen. We ride with our new head man to more conference championships and deep December playoffs runs. And Keith Gill will deserve credit and our thanks for his work behind the scenes, whether people give him a chance or not.

And yea, let's beat Delaware every chance we get.

We need to get the entire allotment of tickets sold to that game and send a message. We aren't some second rate program.

Exactly. Really want to ram this right back up their ass. When do we get a 2017 schedule release?

Side note: it's good for the conference to get these CAA rivalries ramped back up...circa 2007-2010.

Rocco thought success gave him all the Trump cards. From the beginning. he always tried to focus himself in the spotlight. Remember giving himself the game ball? Coach spoke in the 1st person....."I" this and "my" that...... usually not a humbling trait! Thank you Rocco for 5 good years but sorry you fumbled going out the door![/QUOTE]

good point on giving himself the game ball. Never heard of a coach doing that. Some one needs to dig up that thread if it's still on here. I think it got glossed over for the most part but remember commenting how strange it seemed.

Why should we support the administration if it turns out that they--not Rocco-- are the problem?

If they can snag Huesman in response to Rocco bailing, would that be enough to change some fan's view of the Admin?

It would be a good start, and show that they have been preparing, at least. Still more needed though.

I know I would like to see the locker and weight room completed -- and get the kids some apparel.

Do you folks really think there are concrete plans(no pun intended) for the upgrades to locker room and weight room and the other thing gill couldn't remember?
I think it's nothing more than an idea with plans. Thus the problem
It is easy to say we are going to do something but getting it somthimg that a strong AD woikd navigate tt through amy challenges it would face and get it done! Based on that press conference it's not even close to a priority

Yes, I do think there are plans to renovate the locker room, training room, and weight room. I also believe that it will happen soon. The issues are out, and there is pressure on admin to resolve the issues. Can't wait for the UD game next year.

I agree, Rick What are the rest of you folks drinking, something odd. We don't know where the problem is but it looks more like the Admin we're stuck with than the coach who left. The issue Not1 brought up, do we really have an AD who telecommutes. If money is the problem with the football facilities why? (By the way isn't the AD responsible for helping raise athletic money? How can you schmooze you way into local alumni's hearts and wallets if you don't live here) If you let the admin off the hook you're simply enabling them.

I was going to take this to the premium side until the coach thing is settled but something is wrong it won't allow me to sign up.... what's up.

Plus why not do the locker rooms now? if money is tight, you don't have to do the whole package. Does the Robins Center really need a new facade facing the x lot?
