Mark Weidmer......

No college football coach ever has voluntarily exited one job for another with more grace, dignity and humility than departing University of Tennessee at Chattanooga coach Russ Huesman did Thursday on his way to taking over the Richmond Spiders.

Despite arguably being the most successful coach in UTC history, he even tried to make it sound as if the Mocs might be better off without him. More....on web site

While I still think we need to recognize the problems on the UR side that precipitated Danny's departure, I sure wish Danny had left here with the same grace, dignity and humility as Russ seems to have left UTC. Danny instead tried to set fire to the place on his way out the door. And I have little doubt he's talking to recruits and current players - - unlike Russ who vows not to!

"I was kind of disgusted with 9-4," Huesman said. "I kept thinking, 'Man, you've underachieved.' I thought I'm not doing something right. I started thinking that I didn't want to become stale, that I didn't want my football team to become stale."

Rocco was puffing his chest because we won 10 games last year and this year. Great accomplishment, but it seemed like that was his benchmark. No wonder he believed he took us as far as he could...

...And sounding much like Blackburn on the fundraising trail, Huesman said the Mocs will have a hard time enticing enough top athletic talent to reach the next level, whatever that is, until their boosters donate enough money to build a long-overdue athletic training facility.

"I wanted that building to be my legacy," he said. "If they want to be a top-five team every year, building that building is big."

I thought this was interesting. Not sure if he's referring to a multi-sport athletic center, or a stand alone football building. Guess time will tell on that.

Unfortunately I have looked at their paper to often it will not let me look at it again for 30 days. I was only able to read the first paragraph --- summary please thanks.

BTW the first paragraph was pure quality.

think DR did a great job for us, sorry we lost him BUT, if he goes after our players and recruits, he has burnt all bridges and his character has taken a huge hit.

Quote from Huesman in Chatty paper "When asked if he might encourage some of his current UTC recruits to now sign with Richmond, Huesman said: "I've instructed every one of them, 'You're going to Chattanooga because it's a great place.' That's the only right thing to do."

Don't like that at all. If you are a coach and you move on you have to bring your recruits with you. I get that Huesman wants to be classy about it but at the end if the day it's about winning and you have to bring your guys with you.

There is a limit to how many players you can sign. If RH brings his UTC recruits, then should we just dump the recruits who have already committed, since we can't possibly sign everyone?

Didn't think about that, I'm out in P-Town having some fun. I meant more that he shouldn't say he's not going to bring anyone from UTC

am sorry tech boy but you do not take recruits with you they signed with a school not a coach and it is just scum to do that. you see what kind of character a man has with this situation. if rocco takes even one, he is less than pond scum. everything is not all about winning, it is about ethics, right and wrong and what kind of character one has. do you see what has happened at wake? that is they type of guy you seem to be, sorry

I can assure you that I am nothing like that idiot at wake. That was true classlessness at its highest level and that's something I would never do. It's not classless to bring your recruits with you, it happens everywhere and most of the time it's the kids choosing to go. Hope we get several of UTC's kids to replace the ones we will lose.

You mean like when London took Jake McGhee?

yep, Russ will not take any recruits from chatty, has stated so. detested that wainwright brought Tim with him from wilmington, is not done all the time and even if it were, it is wrong. not sure where you learned but certainly not from your dad. certainly a young man may say i want to go with you but a character guys will say NO. lane kiffin would be the type of coach who would say yes, come on. we will see what kind of guy rocco really is on this.

I will be quite surprised if nobody follows him.

you could be correct but not what he emphasized at his exit presser. we will see and will not like it if he goes back on that.

Has Lauletta said anything or tweeted about it? Delaware is desperate for a qb, but I would hope he wouldn't leave the guys and school he's played with for 4 years. If he wants to shine his final year, his opportunities are much greater at Richmond.

I did see that he retweeted Strauss regarding being disappointed about Rocco's departure.

Well that could mean that he's disappointed in Rocco abandoning them. I'll take that as a positive...

No, Strauss's tweet was very "Shame on Richmond."

I'm still optimistic he stays. Abamdon your brothers of four years, who have advanced in the playoffs every year of your eligibility, to go out with a team you don't know that hasn't made the playoffs in that time frame?

Morgan Moses didn't go with London, he was never coming here. Was recruited by tons of P5 schools. Also had eligibility issues, I think he ended up being eligible his first year. Don't think it hurt UVA's academic rep though.

What on earth is this Moses followed London to UVA crap? He committed to them when Al Groh was the head coach and never seriously considerd us. London took McGee and Horksley with him.

McGee and Hoskey were walkons if I remember correctly. Hoskey got a track & field scholarship eventually I think. I believe both had intended to go to UVA first and had settled on UR as a backup plan when previous staff wasn't intending to give them tryouts at UVA.

I thought that they sent Moses to FUMA for a year. For some reason coming out as a postgrad doesn't seem to upset admissions as much as a kid straight out of hs.

got you K, thought you meant Russ and you are probably right, rocco might take some but really hope not, have always felt he did things right and doing that would be wrong.

glad that rocco will now be dressing in the visitors locker room at the ROB. if you have ever been in there, worse than pink walls, was designed to be bad, not dirty, just not too functional.

You do know the recruits have a say. Perhaps the recruits going with Rocco to Delaware, just like any Chatty recruits coming here, committed because of the coach. I have no problem if kids follow the coach because ultimately the player is the one agreeing to do that.

understand but just do not agree. the coach departing should do what Russ just did, tell them to remain with that school and say NO to them. actually pretty easy to do

Believe that's correct don't think he qualified out of meadowbrook hs.
