As a native of the 716 and Western New York, have a great time in Buffalo. It is a much, much nicer place than it was 10-15 years ago, revitalization is everywhere.

It's been a long time since I've lived there (1976), but you can never go wrong ordering wings and a beef on weck or a la Nova pizza. The Anchor Bar is sort of a tourist trap, but the wings are decent. They have really spruced up the waterfront, it's called Canalside and lots to do, see and places to eat. Easy walking distance to the arena.

The arena is nice, served by light rail all the way down Main Street. Plenty of places to stay downtown and the bar scene is good. Niagara Falls is an easy drive, not sure what the process is for getting into Canada at this point. Too bad because the Canadian falls are nicer. Bring your passport just in case the border is open.

Architecture fans have to see the Darwin Martin house, a FLW treasure.

I am sure others who have been there more recently than me (last trip in 2020) can add more insight.

There was a huge Hyatt downtown, right next to the arena, that had some problems and closed up during the pandemic. But I think it is re-opened. This might help. And remember, there is light rail all up and down Main Street all the way out to Canisius (2000 block), so that opens up lots of options.

Gotcha…thank you

So .. after doing work travel for 20+ years plus, I'm pretty skilled normally at finding hotel rooms and stuff .. but I was completely shocked last night at prices and lack of available rooms at downtown props. Have some rooms booked at airport Aloft right now but not really where we want to stay. I wonder if schools gets blocked rooms for fans - may call ticket office when they open since will need tix of course as well.

Looked last night but places near the arena were 250- 300+

Dad, will your son be available? Very tough year for him, but are all looking forward to his return to the court.

any Beilein family up there still that will be local Spider fans?
Bob Black has cuse connections. We have two canadians on the team and it’s the closest they’ve ever played to home. And we’re in the northeast which is where a ton of our fans are. Add in the underdog role and I suspect we could have a pro UR crowd as long as we’re in the game. A lot easier to get to Buffalo from Rva than Iowa on short notice. Wish I could make it up there but logistics + finances make it hard at this stage.

for now at least, we have swithced to Hilton Garden Inn within a longish walk to arena ..

I was able to get that Hyatt Regency last night. I've stayed there before for work actually. It's a mile from arena. But it was cheaper when I got it earlier. Sorry, there is probably now a lot of demand for it so they jacked it up.
