Brissett to UVA

Does anyone know why he transferred? JOC reports on the actual transfer but doesn't ask why.

Thank god this rule wasn't around in 2008. Cant imagine how many redshirts we could of potentially lost.

Did we have a lot of fifth year guys on the team?
Sidbury and Logan come to mind, and just those two would have been devastating.
Then again, they had been to the Final Four just the year before. They were so close they could taste it. My perception is that grad transfers are more likely from programs that failed to make the playoffs.

The NFL GUYS LOOK AT POWER 5 GUYS MORE THAN a guy coming from CAA. HE taking his shot. I understand.

This is interesting. At face value, I agree. But sometime who flat out dominates at the FCS level may end up getting more attention than if he's the #3 wide receiver at a mid-pack P6.

That said, his decision to leave here was more about other factors. And probably the fact that he didn't see anyone at QB for us at the time who could help him become dominant this season factored in, too.

I agree with you that he could dominate at this level but then he goes undrafted. Has to sign a free agent deal like most DIAA guys. If he goes up to D1and has average numbers he gets selected bases on power 5 potential. One example is our last wr from Richmond B.B who was great here but got no real shot because he was at UR. He can play but didn't really get the chance.

Shields got drafted in the 4th round I believe. Not sure it makes a huge difference for WRs where you play. All about measurables with the NFL. If you’re good enough the NFL finds you.

Still remember the track meet between him and Marques Colston when he was at Hofstra. Colston has no business playing FCS footballchave no idea how no one found him. Those two combined for like 600 yards receiving in that game it felt like. Something like a 2-3 OT game in the 40s. Hard to believe almost 15 years ago.
