Blake to the G League

“An all-time high 45 percent of players on NBA start-of-season rosters for 2020-21 had NBA G League experience — 224 of the league’s 497 players.”

Wow, I had no idea. Good for Blake!

This is awesome news for Blake! I know Shawndre was in the G-League for my Suns, not sure if he’ll be back this season. Would be cool to see both of them square off against each other

The Northern Arizona Suns are now the Motor City Cruise located in Detroit and are the Pistons' affiliate. SDJ is on their training camp roster and I assume in good shape to make the team. Ryan Daly's on there too.

I think he plays good enough D that if he can work his 3pt shot up to around 40% he stands a chance to make a roster. He doesn’t have to start, just needs a team that wants a reliable shooter to plug in for a starter to get some outside shooting or stops.

Seems like a weird change. Do the Suns not have a G League team anymore? Did the Pistons not have one before? I'm so confused.

G League has had a lot of shuffling of affiliations, but things are mostly consolidated now with NBA teams owning their G League affiliates, a few under exclusive arrangements where there is separate ownership but the NBA team controls operations, and a couple of NBA and G League teams without affiliate relationships.

The Pistons were previously affiliated with the Grand Rapids Drive, but they wanted more control, so they purchased the Northern Arizona Suns and moved them to Detroit to be their affiliate.

The Grand Rapids Drive are now the Grand Rapids Gold and are the Denver Nuggets affiliate. I don't believe the Nuggets had an affiliate before.

The Phoenix Suns are currently without an exclusive G League affiliate team. They and the Blazers are the only ones in that situation.

Thanks for the explanation. Seems weird that every team doesn't have a G-League team.

Blake is back in the G-League…picked up by the Westchester Knicks.

34 minutes for Blake in the opener, but only 5 points on 2-for-10 shooting including 1-for-5 from three. Four assists and three steals, but four turnovers.

Lost by 19 nice.

Now that’s the Blake we know!

I like the mention of “career-high”…it was his second game. His 5-point outing the other night was also a career-high at the time.

He now gets to go up against SDJ and the Motor City Cruise on Monday and Tuesday…Spider vs. Spider.

Kinda like our message board discourse....

Assuming we will no longer need to pay attention to the A10 by Saturday night, if you are in Richmond their game will be on Comcast, so you can continue to watch "Spider" basketball for another night.
