Sad news for the Maine football family.

"UMaine Athletics is devastated by this terrible incident," athletic director James Settele said in the statement. "We extend our deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time and ask that their privacy be respected."

Minor, a defensive back, was a native of Locust Grove, Virginia. He was 18 years old.

Just feel terrible for the Maine football family.

I was in school in 99. The loss of Donny was very hard on everyone. Just a tragic situation.

I remember when the Marshal Football team lost almost everyone when their
airplane crashed. Both Marshal and the U of R had players from Ferrum Juco.
Some of our guys were devistated for a long time. Their friends, their ex-teammates
died. It was a very sad period for our Spiders.
