I went to the UVA game last night where they put a complete beat down on VA Tech. One interesting aspect of the game was how many minutes people played. VA Tech primarily plays 7 players with the top 3 playing 38, 33 and 33 minutes. UVA goes a little deeper using 8 players with the top 3 playing 36,35,34 minutes. Their guards play most of the game, while their big men play less minutes.

The point is you don't need a lot of depth to be a top ranked team and players can play a lot of minutes.

Yes, but you do need 7-8 league level players. We may have 7-8 league level guys in a year or god-forbid two years, but right now, we are probably closer to 4 than 7-8.

#facts. Tech also lost Chris Clarke at the beginning of the year who played major minutes. But Buzz actually fills his roster with ACC level talent, not a few guys with ACC talent and then guys that can come in and "steal a couple minutes" to give his starters rest. Which is Mooney's and S-man understanding of the role of bench players.
