It seems that a good strategy will involve establishing the pass first. Lauletta will need to hit Diggs or Brown on short out patterns. ISU has a soft secondary and their dbs play off the line (like ours do).

Agreed, I would think our star player of the game will come from the receiving corp, if it isn't KL. I think ISU will do a good job of slowing down, but not completely stopping, Jacobi
I agree but we need to do enough to stay ahead of the chains. 2nd and 7 instead of 2nd and 10 ... and 3rd and 4 and not 3rd and 8 is the recipe.
I would rather see 2nd and 2, resulting from quick throws to the side lines in the first few plays.
+1. There is no optimism here. I predicted that Redbirds will win and will cover the spread. I do not want to say by what margin (here). It is in keeping with my predictions about UVA hiring Mark Richt and W&M's expected defeat of UR in the regular season finale.
We have to slow down their run game on early downs. Illinois State seems to run a lot of power formations with 1 TE and another TE/H-back motioning in the backfield. Lots of power and stretch plays (at least last week). Their qb looks like a really good runner but he may not be as accurate of a passer having just recovered from a hand injury.
Defensively, they seem very similar to us. Mostly 4-3 with a lot of zone coverage in the secondary. Looked like they ran tons of cover 2 and our favorite quarters coverage.
