AT Gwu

That’s a really bad team, but the boys put an ass whipping on them in their house like they should have.

Very solid win tonight by the Spiders. GW entered the game with a winning record in the A10 conference. Many players had strong games:

1. Cayo 19 points on 9-11 with 8 rebounds
2. Grant15 points on 6-11 with 6 rebounds and 6 assists
3. Gilly 15 on 4-7 3s, 5 rebounds, 3 assist, no turnovers
4. Burton 17 on 5-8 shooting
5. Grace, solid overall play.

3 more to go!

GW is a mid pack team. We win most games against mid pack to lower pack teams other than weak St J. We have trouble against teams we r supposed to be equivalents of. The next 3 games will speak loudly. Good and expected win against a fair team tonight.

Official attendance was 1,254 and butts in seats was a lot less than that...pathetic.

Their average home attendance this season is 1,116.

Mooney is the third greatest pitfall to plague our great city.

1. Benedict Arnold’s Raid on Richmond-1781

I will gladly take the win and glad we didn't completely fold after the VCU debacle. But if we could play/shoot that well every night, things would be a lot different....

Perfect game for the Spiders after the VCU loss. Play a team who plays worse defense than us and allows us to run our offense and get any shot we want. Sort of like the UMASS game early in the season coming off the St. Joes and St. Louis losses.

I didn't feel like we came out of the gate with great intensity, we just made shots and that gave our guys confidence.

GW will be a team to watch next season. They basically return everyone and if they could get any sort of help off the bench and play an ounce of defense, they could be a top 4 team next year. Interesting enough - their quick turnaround has been really due to transfers they have taken on. Even this year - they have faired well in the A10 given their easier schedule of playing Duquesne, Fordham, and Mason twice. They are sad to say very similar to us. They beat the teams below them, but can't beat the top teams like St. Louis, Dayton, VCU, Davidson. But with a record of now 7-7 in the league, but a finishing slate of Mason, Duquesne, and Fordham - they have a shot to be right with us in the standings.

We will probably be battling them for the 6th/7th spot in the standings for the A10 tourney.

The designing of the combined Sewer System-late 1800s---Can you send me some info to help me research this? Thats an interesting topic

The other good news about transfers too - once you get them as a transfer, they are unlikely to transfer again - simply because they have already used their 1 time transfer. Only risk of losing them is when they graduate and can become graduate transfer if they have eligibility left. So really - if you can get a kid as a SOPH into your program - its a pretty good deal. You likely get 3 good years out of them.

Yes GW is "not in the team or coaches head" like VCU so we can play more relaxed and normal................and score some ponts..................

See all good points 80. This works better than starting a thread about the above. I understand it must be frustrating to see so many negative threads but Spider b-ball presently is all that. Only need one individual gone and you’ll see a 180 turn.

This is a point that we don’t talk about enough. Vcu is absolutely in mooney and the teams heads as are some of the other top teams in the A10. This definitely plays an impact. Look at uva football for example; you can’t tell me that Virginia Tech isn’t in their heads. That kind of stuff causes you to play scared and make mind numbing decisions like throwing a pass to your tackle with the game on the line (uva).

We're a close second
Yes in lots of ways the teams are a mirror image of each other. More of our shots were made which gave us the win. More than once last night GW raced down the court and jacked up an ill advised three with no one under the basket for any chance of a rebound which we have seen far too often on our own part.

Yes the football rivalry you mentioned and our basketball rivalry are very similiar in that regard. Not much of a rivalry in either case when one team owns the other and they both know it. Part of why I think in our games against VCU we should clear the bench when we are getting pounded. Score may be a little worse but hopefully the subs wouldn't be playing as "scared" ...............It is to the point that Richmond pretty much chalks up a "loss" in their mind before the game even starts...why in the world would you not try something different when what you are doing has the same result time after time after time.(7-22)....a charitable thing to call that mindset is "inflexibility"....I am certain we can all think of less charitable descriptions!
