Currently sitting at 13-4. Mooney has a real bad record against Mason. It seems we are going to be without Francis. I highly doubt we win two straight on the road.

Only common opponent is ODU who George Mason beat by 7. I have not seen them play but they appear to have balanced scoring but I don't see a big man on the roster who can play with Golden. I think if Sherod and Gilyard shoot well and we get Golden involved early, we will win.
Mason is not very good. They take bad low percentage shots on offense, which should play well for us. Mooney can't beat them though, so until he does, I'm not predicting any type of win up there.
Mason is very similar to Davidson in actual talent level. A good team wins this game. I think we are a good team. I think we will win.

Mason appears entirely mediocre, but our record against them is ghastly. Good a time as any for Mooney to exorcise those particular demons.
Mooney is 3-9 vs the goo moos. No idea how. Like 6-18 vcu I guess some will justify since they have larger recruit pool, bigger market & made a final 4. Eye roll.
Revenge tour time for Mooney. Nobody expects it to be easy but these next 2 r must wins. We get them we reap an enormous opportunity vs Dayton who sure is very very good but not unbeatable. Let’s give ourselves that shot but we need these next 2 to put it really in play.
We need winning steaks like earlier in year when we had 2 five game streaks. Can’t have win 1 lose 1 or lose 2 win 2. Start a streak Saturday. Not to mention the next 2 r against teams w lower ratings. Can’t afford it. Due to play well finally in a big spot against the goo moos. Let’s go Spiders.

The loss of Kier hurts them a lot. I suspect Francis is out again? Either way - a game the Spiders should win. Yes - UR rarely plays well up there and I expect it to be ugly, but Spiders will pull out a close one.

37-25 all time against Goo Moos - meaning before Mooney - 34-16 against them which makes the 3-9 record of Mooney against them all the more maddening ..... has taken me awhile to get used to the "fact" that when we play them now .....we may well lose. Don't want that to happen.....for some reason since Mooney we don't match up as well..Goo Moos coaching better? Dave Paulsen is head coach...
Agreed. NCAA tournament teams do not lose games to a mediocre squad like Mason, who just lost their best player for the season and just got beat pretty handily by one of the worst teams in the league.
No excuses. Mason has owned Mooney for a while. Best class ever needs payback.

If you guys lose to us Saturday, you should be very worried. We lost to GW by double digits with two of their starters out. A team of feshmen and sophomores made us look like a high school team.
Mooney has you guys in a great position this year and a loss to us would be a significant set back. Dave Paulsen is turning out to be the second worst hire in the history of the program (Paul Hewitt being the first).
Our offense is predicatble and unimaginative and worst of all, Paulsen refuses to take the blame at every press conference. The guy is delusional. Don't let our record fool you. Our OOC SOS is 300+. Any decent team we've played has blown us out by an average of 18 points.
You guys have had some great wins and only one terrible loss against Radford. And to be honest, Radford would beat us 8 times out of 10.
Your fans should make the trip to Fairfax tomorrow as it will feel like a home game.

What we don’t want is them playing like against Nebraska. 44% from three, and lots of rebounds.
Kier barely played, good thing is this was back at thanksgiving.

Welcome aboard. Our team practices practices hard and well. There are 3 keys to the game. 1) Expect the team with the best practices to win the game, 2) the team with the greatest character will make the strongest showing, 3) the team that most believes it is improving with every step will be the victor. Other than that, it will be a toss-up. Spiders 100 Mason something less than that.

I watched a few Mason games this year. Agree on the offense. Y'all seem to take a lot of low percentage long twos and content with passing the ball around a lot.
Our defense is not great but this is a recipe for making it look good.

Agreed. With home losses to GMU & North Dakota, and home wins over Purdue & Iowa.

Mason would have to lose the rest of their games, including their A10 tourney opener, just to get to 20 losses. We can tell you from experience that you need two consecutive 20 loss seasons before you move on......no, wait, that's not right.
Also, you only lost to GW by 6, not double digits. But still, it's GW.
Perhaps Paulsen was a bad hire and from our perspective he was also a "bad hire" because since he arrived we have an awful record against Mason in comparison to before he was hired. So yes would not mind seeing him "move on"..........................................
Welcome aboard MasonGuy. I heard an interview in which our esteemed AD, Jabba the Hardt, waxed poetic about his guy Paulsen. My only recollection was when Philly Bob asked him about Paulsen's best trait (or something like that), Hardt said it was his commanding voice. Knew you were in trouble. Good luck with your losing campaign, I sincerely hope you do not have a billionaire supporter of Paulsen.
It seems that everyone we play sucks and every team we play schedule sucks. Not sure what the definition everyone uses to define suck, must me not in the top 25 in the country.
Wow, this is negativity in stereo! We have a 13-4 team playing a 12-5 team tomorrow.
Both teams are missing their leading scorer. GM has been very difficult for U of R to beat on the road. I expect this to be a very close game.
BTW, it was pretty cool watching U of R and GM alumni playing together in the summer tournament. Sounds like there is strong mutual respect across the 2 programs.

Well Nebraska's current NET is 167, which is DEAD LAST among P5 teams. Boston College's is 166 (next to last). That would be a great match-up to see who is the worst P5 team. Nebraska does have them by a hair right now.

I would call them mediocre too, but his reference was to p5 - so I thought it appropriate. Just win baby.
If Golden wants to be relevant again like he was at the beginning of the season, he's got to quit playing soft. He needs to go harder on defense and quit worrying about getting fouls (and quit whining to the refs when he does get called). We are deep enough if he does get into foul trouble, Grace certainly has stepped up his game defensively. And quit with all the touchy-feely kissing-off-the-glass shots on offense; you're 6'10", go up strong and throw the ball down. Golden has a lot of weapons, he needs to make himself a bigger presence.
Unbelievably, he has 19 fouls in 386 minutes of play this season (1 foul every 20 minutes). He has gone from foul prone as a freshman to avoiding fouls like the plague as a junior.
