Thousands of Spiders fans at Robins Center today and unless I missed it not one mention of our flagship FCS football team playing in ND!

Disgraceful and pitiful!

Not sure who is in charge of pre game, timeouts and halftime agenda but they are pathetic!

Maybe the lack of respect for the football program and it's fans is what Coach Rocco is thinking about?

Show them what good looks like today in ND. Go Spiders!

Honestly, UR has a marketing problem that spans the entire university, athletics and academics both.

That's absurd. In previous years if we were on the road for playoffs the PA guy would mention it over speaker with gametime and channel.

Agree with you, but it's hard to market our athletics effectively when we're constantly playing cleanup due to self-inflicted PR fiascos.

Agreed... I actually think this spans the university, though... Communications are awful, whether it's PR, HR, marketing, crisis control... We don't know how to communicate, and it shows up in many high profile arenas.

Can we also scrap the we are UR commercial? It is so shrill. I think we should get the input from the person that makes the cool sports promo shorts for UR.

Today, Got an email about the loss in basketball yesterday but no football email. are we just asleep at the wheel or is something more premeditated going on?

Great point MO. Is this some conspiracy by our athletic department or just on oversight not to let supporters know we won a playoff game? I got multiple updates and final recap this morning on losing basketball effort and nothing on football win. Small issue to many but speaks volumes to me.

Sent email to Scott Warner today letting him know my displeasure on no announcement about FB playoff game at basketball game yesterday. Also mentioned top 10 ESPN Top 10 play last night and that it should be up on UR website. He replied promptly but it's not up yet. Most of what I get now on UR Athletics is via Twitter and get email alerts. Recommend everyone follow our teams and Bob Black.

Yes, as far as I know, playoff highlights are just on the NCAA FCS site, even though one they put from last night's game was pretty lame (neither Brian's or Tyler's catch included). Unfortunately, FCS is the stepchild on ESPN. Had to laugh last night, though, when an announcer once again said Bob Trott was our DC. Who knows who they're saying is JMU's DC during their games?

got an email from the alumni office that we had made the quarters but nothing from the athletic dept

we need to bring down the guys who do the commercials for espn for a day, get Mcshay to bring them and they could probably come up with a dozen good ideas for UR to use. think they make the best commercials on tv

I've said for years that we've got students getting marketing and communications majors right on campus who could create great marketing campaigns, ads and branding. Run a contest and give a big prize? Who wouldn't want it on their resume for prospective employers? We probably paid way too much for an agency to come up with what's being used now. Good way to get of the boring "United in Red" promo and that "We Are UR" ad that is so tired and old it's probably got students in it who have graduated.

exactly, graduated decades ago and am in one of them and they had to camo my hov around so it looks as though am sitting on a bench.....no speaking part though

Mo, my guess is that AD PR Guy for Football probably landed at 3 am with the rest of the traveling party, and probably has a 10,000 other things to do to get ready for a quick turnaround for the trip to wash, including catch up on his sleep!

Meanwhile, the AD PR guy for Hoops probably had the email list out already. Just a hunch, but don't think its any conspiracy.

Good points. Thank you.

Still, i'd love to see a little more collaboration. Spread good news whenever you have it! Bury the crappy news whenever you can. PR 101.

From what I have gathered over the years 100% of emails come from the marketing office not PR, and there is no FB email because they aren't trying to hock tickets.....
