Anyone still think we shouldn't have accepted the playoff berth?

For what its worth, one of the worst officiated d-1 football games I have ever watched. Just plain mismanaged.

I have never seen as many calls after the play was finished as in that game.

The fumble they called on Johnson was atrocious. If he didn't throw the ball, how did it go 15 yards in the direction that he was aiming? How did all those officials miss that not once, but twice (original call and the replay review)? Where do they get these clowns from?

He was definitely in a throwing motion, but the ball did land 3 yards behind where he threw it from, so it could be called a lateral. But neither the refs or announcers mentioned that.

Where the ball first hit the ground was at least a half-yard forward from where he threw it. That was an atrocious call.

I am told the NEC crew today has never worked with replay before (that conference doesn't use it)?

ETA: I can't believe I'm replying to this post in this thread. Only one buffoon thought we shouldn't accept the bid.

It is an eyebrow-raising resume, isn't it? They'll certainly benefit from the rest and the crowd but we've got a shot.
Their first FCS playoff game ever, I believe. I think we win a close one if we don't turn the ball over. We're playing with house money, I think we'll be loose and ready.

Big Sky proving pretty weak outside of EWU. ND avoided them, and with Chatty blowing out Weber and non-schollie San Diego about to take down Cal Poly, turning out to not be much meat on ND's schedule.

I believe we have better talent. Very winnable game.

Proud of this team! Learning to deal with the unexpected and learning to deal with adversity will serve them well through life. Proud of this coaching staff! What a job given our player losses. Let's make a run!

most knowledgable fcs fans knew your program was legit and certainly worthy playoff team. its the fcs for god sabes!

see you guys in Frisco!!!

NDSU V RICHMOND!

thanks for the confidence, I have never seen a team as snake bit with injuries as this years Spiders. Would love to play NDSU in Frisco. We're playing with house money now with all of our injuries. But one thing for sure, the Spiders will not lay down for anyone.

The character displayed by the Johnson Family was a shot in the arm for our football team. We have been energized. As urfan1 says: "the Spiders will not lay down for anyone!!" I believe that we a destiny's child!! Go Spiders!!!

I think we have a great shot to win this one. It all just kind of adds up in our favor. It's und's first ever playoff game, they haven't played anyone all year long, and they haven't played a football game in 2 weeks which is a long time. They also likely didn't think much of us when they saw we were going to be without Lauletta and many other starters. After what we did last week und should be pissing their pants a little bit going into the game.

You have grown up before our eyes!
I've always been a believer in our boys on the gridiron. I'm about the most passionate wear my emotions on my sleeve UR fan you'll ever meet. I take it really hard when we lose and sometimes lose my cool when things don't go well. I was a whole lot worse with not handling losses well in high school. I feel like I'm out there playing every week still and I hate losing anything! All that being said let's keep the train running. WTD DWWD

North Dakota almost beat FBS Bowling Green (lost by 1 point) of the Mid-American Conference on the road, they beat Cal Poly, a top 20 team most of the year, they have won 9 games in a row, and even though they lost to Stony Brook it was only by 4 points. Stony Brook beat us by 28 points two weeks later when we had Kyle Lauletta.
UND has had two weeks off to rest and prepare, and they will be playing at home before 12,000 screaming fans where they are undefeated this year. They shared the championship of the Big Sky Conference with #2 seed Eastern Washington. They are seeded #7 by the NCAA committee in the FCS playoffs.
I have hopes of beating UND, but on paper, they should be favored by 21. Let's keep things in perspective.

i thanks for the reality check, but this is the Playoffs...anything can happen...we've already seen a good example...

I think it's just about time for some Tom Petty...

They somehow missed both Eastern Washington and Montana. And their FBS game was against a 4-8 Bowling Green.
For the record Montana was not good this year. In reality they missed us. EWU probably would have pumped us pretty good though, they are a terrible matchup for us.

NC AT beat an fbs team this year and we just throttled them.
They beat Cal Poly without their top RB
Hearing it's not gonna even be a sellout, other stuff happening around the area that weekend.
They did not play Eastern Washington...or even Montana.
We both share an L to our only common opponent.
Also...this isn't or first rodeo, for them it is.

While I agree with you about keeping things in perspective and that they are a good team, not sure that resume frightens me. Momentum is a big part of the playoffs and feel we did get an appropriate shot in the arm with KJ. KJ threw well so that no one would pick him off, sometimes that led to overthrowing the ball, better then an INT for sure, hopefully with that experience he'll have a little more touch on the ball. UND is a good team and we'll have to show up to beat them. But I feel good about our chances.

You don't see many fumbles spiral?

how the officials missed the face mask on Brown's tackle on the sideline was beyond me, he was standing in the perfect place to see it. How we got the blocking out of bounds call was even more bizarre? The personal foul for late hit out of bounds on the east side I couldn't see. I honestly don't know what was going on with that crew other than they wanted to keep the game close for some other reason.

Realistically we don't have enough common opponents to have any idea how our teams will stack up. This just adds to the level of anxiety for this game from my perspective. Throw in the fact that UND has had 3 weeks off and I have no idea what to expect. I'll just assume it will be a tough ass game.

Are you talking about that first big completion? I think it was Bevels - Brown didn't catch a pass until the 2nd half.
But yeah, he brought him down by his facemask.

I'm thinking the team that is more mentally relaxed gets a rather quick lead. Then the other team slowly just about catches up, but never ties or goes ahead, with a close 4th quarter finish. This worries me since we haven't been in playoff since Div II in 2007 and the Spiders been there the last 3 years. It'll be exciting, good game fans.

As I recall, KJ badly overthrew his receiver who was wide open on the first play from scrimmage. I remember thinking that it was going be a long boring day believing that we would be limited to our run game and that the Aggies would stuff the box. So no one on this planet was more surprised and delighted than I when KJ then went on to make some great passes with surgical precision ala Kyle Lauletta.

He is the real deal and he should get better as we go deeper into the playoffs. That said, A&T had no idea what to expect. UND will have a full game to review the game we play with KJ under center. I am hopeful that Coach Garrett can come up with a game plan which will take advantage of the UND defensive backfield and force their LBs to drop back so we can open up the run. He now knows what KJ can do, and he has several UND games to study.

all we have to do is look at the w&m game, we were the better team but lost by a large margin. anything can happen, does not matter if you are the better team. if we play well, protect the ball, get a turnover or 2, yep, we can come home with a win but each game has so many big plays, injuries, etc., very difficult to just know we will win. i like these guys and hope they play at the level we will need.
