Charlie Ebersol(son of Dick Ebersol) involvement and money from CBS will keep this “off season” league alive which is a small bridge between Super Bowl and MLB.Otherwise bye-bye.

if this becomes a development league for the NFL I hope it works out. Avg salary $75,000

I_M, basically the only way it will survive, a minor league for nfl not a competitor. though the nfl has probs, it is a 500lb gorilla.

think the football part of the league was top shelf but the financial part was in the basement. too bad the nfl did not step up financially because they could have used this league a ton.

Pretty horrible business model. They were about to run out of money after one or two weeks until someone else bought the whole league, and even that couldn't save them? Who put this thing together, a VCU dropout?

it takes tons and tons of cash and financing to run a deal like this and unless you have that part of the formula worked out to the hilt, should never go forward. the old AFL has really been the only entity to be successful at least to the point of getting the NFL to absorb them. again, this was more of a minor league enterprise and that is why the NFL should have stepped up and provided at least part of the financing even though they have the college minor league for free.

It was horrible. They didn't learn anything from prior attempts at starting up football leagues. Vince McMahon has to be thinking if starting the XFL back up is a good idea.

I will give them credit, though, and that is they proved that kickoff's and extra point's days are numbered.

wish they would add field goals to that thinking. the game would be so much more entertaining if the field goal was eliminated, teams would then be going for it tons on 4th down and games would not be decided by some 50+ yard kick as opposed to real football, no pun intended. kickoffs are the prob, have to have the onside kick available for a team attempting to come back with not much time remaining, maybe moving the spot up to the 45 yard line so most kicks go out of the end zone, thus no big contact but still allow for the onside.
