Does anyone know about Albany? They have a 1-3 CAA record and are 2-5 overall. Their wins included a convincing victory over URI and a W over Duquesne. They are also coming off a bye week.

It looks like they lost to Buffalo at the start of the season. Buffalo is an FBS team. They lost to JMU 28-42, they lost to Maine 39-7 and they lost to Villanova 37-0, They also lost to Holy Cross 37-0.

Richmond has a Sagarin rating of 57.85 and Albany has a rating of 33.23. Richmond is the 115 ranked team in college football, Albany is the 219th. Sagarin's score predictor, the one everyone uses in BBall, shows an expected scoring difference of 30 points. Holy Cross is ranked at #178. Buffalo is ranked at #101. By the way, the CAA is the 3rd highest ranked FCS conference at #22, behind the MVFC #15 and then the Big Sky #21.

Here's what I also know about Albany. They are going to get taken to the woodshed on Saturday. I'm not buying this trap game stuff. We are really good and getting better, Albany is not good.

We've lost in trap games before don't over look anyone. NE lousianna is one that comes to mind in 72 maybe? 6 and 0 just beat WVa. top 20 and we lose to NE Lou.

Yes, and it is great... but in Danish...

Seriously, Here is a post from one of their AGS posters but posted on the Albany board (funny coming from the Scooby Doos)
"720 yards against JMU
Ruh roh"

Has anyone else looked at their forum. There is a lot of gallows humor. Some of it is quite funny. One fan said the Womens' Soccer team outscored the football team last week, during the bye week. Another asked whether they beat "Bye" this week. I tried to post, but apparently they are running a background check. Wait, there are some strange guys knocking on my door. They have a funny accent. They sound like...Yankees. But it was actually just Scoobie and Shaggy.

What I know about Albany is they are our next opponent, and never underestimate your opponent

They have a young team, with most of their skill players being sophomores. It looks like they have a rising star in QD, DJ Crook. He was a QB at Penn State before he transferred to Albany. He has a completion percentage of 54.9%. It also looks like they have pretty good RBs, led by Elliot Croskey.

we can lose any game even though we should win, same with any team. don't care if you guys don't get that as long as the team understands what the game means, no matter who we play.

I'm sure the team and coaching staff is not overlooking them. As fans though, it is OK to look at a game like this and say the obvious. (and I'm as superstitious as the next guy).

In comparison, Kyle Lauletta is 126-193-2 with 12 TD and a completion percentage of 65.3%. He certainly compares favorably to the Albany QB- Crooks.

plus, we cannot expect our offense to have games like we did saturday. coaches knew we were going to have to put some points up to win, thus opened it up, wish they would keep that foot on the accelerator the rest of the way.

To be fair, though, we probably won't play many more defenses that are that bad the rest of the way.

It is all about matchups. Richmond's passing offense average 278 yards per game, Albany allows 220 ypg, while JMU allows 245 ypg. We rush 191 ypg, while Albany allow 195 and JMU allows 147. It will depend on how good their defense will be. It will also depend on how well our o-line does. Is Albany 's d better than jmu's?

Albany has given up 23 yds/gm more but they did play each other.

Comes to mind just two years ago the Spiders lost both Gardner Webb and Rhode Island by identical 12-10 scores just sayn

It looks like Albany will be starting their backup QB Sussman against us and the for the rest of the year. From what I can tell he is 7 for 18 with one interception on the year.

Does anyone know where Albany stands with its scholarships? When they joined the CAA, they only offered 40 scholarships (I think) for football. How many do they have now?

I assume that was him being careless not a statement about their DBs.
The INTs that Lee threw were to 5 different defensive backs. They must have seen something in the film about Lee's tendencies. Lauletta is going to have to be very careful with the ball. Once or twice, Lauletta seemed to launch one up intending our receivers to catch the ball.

Albany was tied with JMU at the half. This will not be any cakewalk.
If we do not maintain our focus, we could lose.

"TURNOVERS GALORE UAlbany is tied for third in the CAA for turnover margin (+2, 0.29/game). In back-to-back weeks, the Danes forced six turnovers, which both tie a single-game program record -- At James Madison (9/19), UAlbany logged a program-record five interceptions and a fumble recovery; In the win over Rhode Island (9/12), the Great Danes recovered four fumbles and intercepted the ball twice. Prior to this season, the last time UAlbany forced the opposition to turn the ball over six times was against Towson on Sept. 1, 2001."

"SCOUTING UALBANY Plagued with injuries and youth the last three games, the Great Danes look to get back on track after their bye week. UAlbany has been outscored 113-7 in the month of October, falling to Holy Cross (37-0), Maine (39-7), and Villanova (37-0). "
