with no CAA Championship, or FCS Playoff chances on the line, this year's Homecoming celebration for many Spiders fans is more likely to be about war stories, lies and former glory days than who wins the football game...

though it would be fun to extinguish Towson's unlikely CAA and FCS Playoff chances...

with Mancuso back at 85% we finally saw our offense score enough points to win at New Hampshire...our strong defense continues to stuff an opponent's rushing attack, giving us a chance to win...I think we can win this one...the oddsmakers do too...

meanwhile I'll be polishing up my best stories and lies...i.e. remember when we lived on subs, burgers, fries and beer?...didn't Old Milwaukee cost .99 a six pack in the Pantry Pride? yes, I really did pick up that keg....

Jerry Howard, Jr. rushed for 145 yards and a TD on 19 carries to power Towson (4-4, 3-2 CAA) past UAlbany, 38-24. The Tigers took an early 10-0 lead when Devin Matthews capped a 17-play, 98-yard drive with a 2-yard scoring run. Towson pushed the margin to 24-0 at halftime after Mark Collins returned an interception 80 yards for a score and Matthews reached the end zone from a yard out in the second quarter. A 43-yard TD run by D'Ago Hunter pushed Towson ahead 31-3, but UAlbany (0-8, 0-6 CAA) battled back with a 22-yard TD pass from Jeff Undercuffler to Roy Alexander and a 5-yard scoring run by Karl Mofor. Howard clinched the victory for the Tigers on an 8-yard TD run with 1:43 left. Undercuffler finished 28-of-41 passing for a season-high 354 yards and 2 TD's.

Richmond

• Rallied past New Hampshire 35-21 last week to stop a five-game slide.

• Aaron Dykes caught 3 passes for 88 yards, including a pair of 4th-quarter TD's at UNH. He's the only FCS player to score a TD rushing, receiving and on a kickoff this season and has 9 TD's in 8 games.

• Joe Mancuso passed for 291 yards and a season-high 3 TD's and ran for a team-best 44 yards and a TD at UNH. The 291 passing yards were the most since the opener.

• Richmond's defense limited UNH to 243 total yards and recorded 6 sacks. The Spiders are 22nd in FCS in rush defense (112.8 ypg) and 26th in total defense (324.8 ypg).

• Jasiah Williams made a team-high 8 catches for 67 yards at UNH and has 18 receptions in the past two games.

• Tristan Wheeler had a team-best 15 tackles at UNH and is 2nd in the CAA with 79 stops.

• Tyler Dressler contributed 11 tackles, 2.5 TFL's and a sack in the UNH win.

Darius Reynolds had one heck of a game. 4 & half sacks. That is the type of stuff that gets you some honors even when playing on a losing team. If we can snake out two more wins to get to 6&5, it’ll really help these guys get some more eyeballs on them.

I was at the game, my first since 2018. Watched it from Allison Vogler's retirement-party tent in the EZ, had a great time and it was nice seeing so many people show up to honor a true Spider. Saw John Beilein in the EZ and Stacy Tutt and the new president came into the tent after halftime. Wish the weather would have been nicer.

The C70 lot was really empty and our fraternity tailgater had half its usual attendance, which (I was told) has been usual this year. Many who planned to come back didn't, still concerned about Covid.

We parked over by Maryland Hall so we had a nice walk across campus before and after the game. It's still a beautiful place.

It's always great to return. Wish I could do it more often.
